My fundamental and durable answer is that the State is a criminal organization. As such, it does not have the right to exist, let alone rights and interest in anything else, and certainly not with regard to people's reproductive choices.

The entire controversy over abortion, gay rights, and so much else is entirely due to the State usurping the power over these areas.

If the State was not involved in abortion, the entire matter would be between the woman and whomever else the woman wanted to be involved.

If the State was not involved in marriage, then people would be free to marry whomever they choose.

By arguing that the State has "interests" and "rights", one is explicitly supporting the State power to *divide and conquer* by pitting people against each other on moral questions that should be completely individual decisions.

This is the reason the State has all of us at each other's throats: because whomever gains power can impose their will on the others, and punishing people for victimless crimes is a big part of this, and does nothing but increase the power of the State at the expense of the rest of us.

The only reason pro-life and pro-choice, pro-gay marriage and anti gay-marriage are enemies is because the State has made it so by usurping the power to gore the ox of one at the expense of the other.

The power is the problem.

Until this is generally understood, nothing will really change.

You never get rid of power struggles, in this life anyway, and all bets are off on any other.

Yes, but power struggles, like everything else, need to be privatized.
