Appreciate it Ryan, but by the same measure I could say you are falling victim to paranoia.
I'm entirely persuadable on this point but where is the contemporary evidence? I completely agree there are plenty of really bad actors involved in this, we are 100% on the same page there. What started this conversation was Mrhoundog's question about what is keeping the population at large from turning in Jonestown. I (correctly) observed that it's not happening. I never said it could never happen but that it is not happening.
There are lots of bad things that can happen and we should always be on guard. But thinking your friendly next-door neighbor may one day turn you into the secret police is irrational and frankly unhealthy. How is it any different from the hysteria and fear whipped up by the covid hysterics?
Here's some polling from January of THIS year. You'd believe these numbers were possible if this was early in the pandemic, one could be forgiven for thinking we were past this type of thinking by now, obviously we are not. These are some powerful numbers, and you have to spend some time in the progressive echo chambers to really appreciate how quickly the whole group of them could be persuaded to support just about ANY punitive action against the unvaxxed, or white supremacists, or whatever hobgoblin pointed to by TPTB. These people believe the unvaxxed are a danger to all. These people are under some powerful demonic influences and they want you dead or regulated, preferably dead. All they need is a nudge.
"President Biden’s strongest supporters are most likely to endorse the harshest punishments against those who won’t get the COVID-19 vaccine. Among voters who have a Very Favorable impression of Biden, 51% are in favor of government putting the unvaccinated in “designated facilities,” and 54% favor imposing fines or prison sentences on vaccine critics."
"Forty-five percent (45%) of Democrats would favor governments requiring citizens to temporarily live in designated facilities or locations if they refuse to get a COVID-19 vaccine."
"Nearly half (48%) of Democratic voters think federal and state governments should be able to fine or imprison individuals who publicly question the efficacy of the existing COVID-19 vaccines on social media, television, radio, or in online or digital publications."
"Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Democratic voters would favor a government policy requiring that citizens remain confined to their homes at all times, except for emergencies, if they refuse to get a COVID-19 vaccine."
I have noticed these sentiments on "other" twitter and news sites. They are often led by "expert" doctors and scientists and everyone in the comments just piles on. There are many who want us to be terminally punished and excommunicated from society for causing any and all harms to the jabbed who get Covid or LT Cov or ANY symptoms that have ever been attributed to the illness or the jab effects. It is always our fault and their fury is limitless.
I’m not sure that there isn’t reason for concern, Jeff. My 85-year-old unvaccinated mother lives in a highly vaxxed community and I have been appalled by the way she’s been treated. Just a few examples: at one point, someone saw fit to report to my older sister that my mother had been seen in the co-op without a mask. A woman she’s been friends with for fifty years stopped talking to her because she was so upset that she hadn’t been vaccinated. And yes, her friendly next-door neighbor, with whom she’s been friends for forty years, was so upset after my mother recovered from covid that she blew up at her, berating her for not having been vaccinated, urging her to get vaccinated, and shouting at her, “Come spring, there’s going to be a public lashing!” I’m not exactly sure what she meant by that, but the vitriol is there, bubbling beneath the surface.
But I agree that we can’t be consumed by their hatred (which, it seems to me, is borne of fear) or allow it to dictate our lives. When her neighbor later fell ill with the flu, my mom brought her soup, which was gratefully received.
It seems to me that many are lost. I encourage my mom to be a light shining in the darkness, something that people can make their way towards once they pick their heads up and realize they’ve lost their way.
You should consider studying the 30's and read Desmet book.
You might want to reflect on how fast things happened in the first year of Contrived19.
Faster than they happened in the 1930's.
I respect you Jeff, but you might be falling victim to naivete

Well said. Thx for this post

Jeff I want to answer this question when I get to a keyboard.
I have some personal experience with my children that may help better communicate my line of thinking.
Thank you for your response.
It is a sticky wicket. That I think warrants further deliberation for all stakeholders
Jeff-
I'm still not at a keyboard, but I think to some extent we're getting hung up semantics.
There is a difference between vigilance and paranoia.
I have a question. Answer if comfortable but if not no biggie.
Have you had children, and if so were they young during this last 2.5 years?
