true story:
many years ago my family was having christmas morning at home. it was a snowy day in the mountains and we had a fire and were settling in for a quiet morning. then we heard a yowling meow and were astonished to find my parent’s cat, who had been gone for months, just walk in the door and greet us.
“hi, did you miss me?”
so oddly, this is the second time in my life that i have gotten a cat back for christmas.
so here we go.
you can once more follow the adventures of the felonious feline on twitter.
and clearly a little time in prison was just what i needed to put the final polish on my street cred and really kickstart my hip hop career.
because like it or no, twitter is getting a cat for the holidays
it’s weird being back, like going to the old neighborhood you have not seen since you were a kid. 24 months is a lifetime in internet years.
seeing your perfectly preserved tweets from 2 years ago is like opening a time capsule.
i’d say some of it aged pretty well…
for those who do not use twitter and worry about the future here: don’t.
i’m not going anywhere. this is home now. twitter will be a place where i (and we) can get back into the debates on real live player v player mode, but it is not a substitute for what we have built here; it is an adjunct.
there will be more memes on twitter as it’s easy for short form, so i really do hope that many of you choose to follow both. i know some have a distaste for the twitterverse and let’s face it, they earned it, but this is a new day rising over at casa del bluebird and if you want it to be a good day, come and help.
we get to build the public square and make it our own.
going multi-platform is going to spread our reach and once more impose on us the powerful discipline of instant-on mass peer review and engagement. it’s going to make us better and smarter. it will challenge ideas and force us to evolve them. that is what the big debate is for.
but the substance is going to stay here.
i like this medium far too much to leave it.
and because you all have been such a big part of helping to keep the bad cattitudes alive, it seems only fitting that you be the first to see the memes that shall soon be unleashed upon the unsuspecting avian.
because this is more than madness.
vamanos.
the moralizing
and the fun
because while even clippy could see this coming, it could not have come without you.
this is about to get even more fun.
now off to work…
Woohoo!!!! You and Igor in the same day! It’s a Christmas miracle!
your memes are impressive ! Love the cat riding a dog ! I am not going to twitter and am glad to read you will stay on Substack, the only social medium I follow. Thanks for all you did and do and for making unbearable times bearable. What would we have done without the handful of you that spoke out loud and clear? We would be in the loonhouse!
