The irony being that the same intellectuals and indoctrinators that virtue signal about promoting "banned" books are the ones who allowed the books to be shuttled in the first place. Can't have the kiddos figuring out that communism works as well as a screen door on a submarine.
A similar thought or observation crossed my mind as well. I was thinking about sone of the discussions we had in high school.
Now, many of those folks are captured by the elite system. I have a reunion coming up, I expect to be exiled by more “friends”. I admit, one of the reasons I go, is to rattle cages. : (
I had a discussion with a librarian at a public library a number of years ago. She was discussing with another librarian how much she loved "banned books week" as I was waiting in line at the reference desk. I asked her if there was such a thing as a book that was inappropriate for children. (I brought up the question because if a parent signed the permission form for a library card, that gave the child access to absolutely every publication in the library including porn magazines and access to porn sites on the library's computers.) She replied, "No". Children, regardless of age should have access to everything. I argued with her about age appropriateness. But according to her, there was no such thing. However, if I were to run into her today I expect that she now wouldn't have a problem banning books like Animal Farm and the Bible. But the porn and grooming books and sites would still be ok.
I worked in a public library when the woke stuff was just starting in earnest. It saddens me to think what my beloved library must be like now. Libraries are pretty much captured institutions.
I work in an academic library in Canada. Sadly, yes, my fellow librarians and faculty have been captured by the woke mind virus. Every once is while I get my boss to approve an order for a non-woke book, classics by Etienne de la Boetie or F.A. Hayek, or more recent works like "A Very Convenient Warming" or "Trans-Life Survivors". You know, to offset such literary achievements such as "Gender Queer" or "How Can We Explain Black Support for Donald Trump", written by none other than one of our aluma. Yes, we're churning out the best of the best, folks!

Perhaps they’ll be freed FROM those cages Linda??

Anytime I hear someone bragging about reading "banned" books, I ask whose translation of "Mein Kampf" they're reading. Nothing shuts them up faster.

😞 How true, and sad.
