I neglected to include this in my reply. The moment Bitcoin is exchanged, it sends out a flare alerting various agencies that there is a lump of cash that just appeared out of nowhere. This attracts the attention of the anti money laundering authorities. They want to know from who the money came from and why. As long as it is in the bitcoin universe, all is good, perhaps, but the moment it is exchanged for use outside that realm, it becomes a problem.
