I'd've taken a shitload of coal in my nice fresh laundry rather than having had to see that face on Christmas.
But never mind. Merry Christmas to all, gey gezint kim gezint, don't fight with your idiot relatives and be very, very admiring of my Christmas vest, all crocheted by me and my absolute masterwork. It features a parlor scene from The Nutcracker and the tree is covered with sugar mice which the cat on the mantelpiece is desperately trying to reach.
My enthusiasm often far outpaces my skill. I had to redo that vest twice because I have this habit of continuing to drive down a road that is obviously wrong from the start but I just can't stop in time...
But I tell ya, this is my greatest. I even got a roaring fire in the fireplace, with the broken Nutcracker to one side and the Sugarplum Fairy to the other.
Rosemary dear, wishing you a very Merry Christmas.
The initial rounds represent The Little Match Girl and The Steadfast Tin Soldier and that's where I stopped for the back of my vest.
The front is all freehanded. There's the parlor, and the fireplace, and the hearthrug with a cat sleeping on it, and the Christmas tree, and the Nutcracker, and the Sugar Plum Fairy, and lots and lots and lots of sugar mice plus The Mouse King. And on the mantel is the Clock and The Owl, and a cat of course.
And doing stuff like this is why I have remained sane throughout this perhaps our now no longer neverending Plague Era.
Plus the comradeship of the assembled of course. That may be the most important part...

Merry Christmas SCA. I appreciate your comments. I’ll bet that vest is stunning.
And to you and yours and everyone you love and care about.
I am so grateful for your camaraderie. We found ourselves a great table to sit around in the vast backyard of SubstackLand.
I am jelly. I can just imagine the brilliance of your fine craft artistry

I was inspired to start from this pattern: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fairytales-cal
