I don’t do twitter. I remember when the iPhone came out with imessaging, and every single person rejoiced…because you were no longer confined to 140 characters in a text.

Then twitter comes out, performs the same function as email, Facebook, MySpace, and all the other online baubles at the time…except it was even shittier, because you could only do 140 characters…

THEN the celebrities immediately jumped on Twitter, every late night show started doing bits about twitter “Celebrities read mean tweets.” “Twitter jokes” etc etc… then the Arab Spring kicked off, all on Twitter, and the government fought to keep the platform running so people could use it in real time during the “uprising”.

It was then I identified it as a NSA tool.

So I always stayed away.

Same thing with Facebook. But I think Facebook was organic, it just got co-opted by the intelligence services when they realized it’s potential.

Great comment. Completely agree, my only social platform is email and my telephone. I have both cell and landline, landline is my main phone.

I have to add: I'm retired so 'lots of time'. Well, let me tell you, by the time I clean my house, cook my meals (all from scratch), tend my garden, maintain my house, I'm a DIY'er, visit/call friends, attend church, read substacks etc for news, etc, etc, etc. It doens't leave ANY time for social media.

I understand that younger, working people need technology but 'in my spare time?!?', what spare time?

I do Gab. They’re the only free speech platform and they flight for everything they had.

Canceled by everyone, investigated, had to get their own servers. Kicked out of every bank…

For the crime of being truly free speech.

I support that.

I understand. I don't do social media, either, though I finally did get a Twitter account to follow a few people. I will probably delete it, unless Elon Musk changes their censorship culture.

Did you not learn ANYTHING from the article? Elon is white. He stole twitter from the Mayans. The first twit was actually a black man, who lived in the internet, relaying messages to other people. Then Elon showed up and stole it all.

You need to learn your woke history.
