To put it another way, if you're in a relationship, and your partner starts demanding to hold the credit cards, and wants to know where you're going at night, and bails you up each day demanding you do certain tasks you don't want to do or you won't get sex anymore, do you keep staying happily under that roof? No. You stay unhappily. It is abuse. If things progress and your partner gets worse, when do you leave? Or when when do you stand up for your rights? Govts all over the world are like abusive partners right now, being complete assholes and expecting to get away with it - they start small, wanting to know little details, then they go bigger - demanding all sorts of unreasonable things whilst belittling and demeaning you even further. Everyone really needs to whack these bastards with the frying pan and show them the door!! But how do abused partners normally cope? They usually stay - until they are either dead, or until they have absolutely no reason to stay because life is meaningless to them by then. The smart ones get out FAST.
