Sorry. I'm mis-communicating. Sorry for the drive by comment.
I am not replying directly to your comments, but more the back and forth that you and the cat and others were having.
It seemed like the back and forth was based on which ideal would be best to save our society from itself. I don't think there is a realisticly tangible ideal. I think your perspective that there is no such thing as a completely free market is correct (There are no ideal scenarios, in the real world, that's why they are called "ideal".)
So, I wasn't being critical of your perspective, but arguing against a "cats" ideal is like arguing a ghost.
Markets should be free, but humans are humans and some rules must be agreed to in that exchange of goods, or the unscrupulous will take advantage of the gullible. Some enforcement of morality is always needed unless we want anarchy and constant chaos.
The whole decentralized, blockchain, ultra free market, extremity of pure libertarianism never seems to me to be a solution to the issues at hand.
I should have commented, instead of replying to your comment. I'm 99% in agreement with you.
It's okay. I flipped my asshole switch at a certain point so there wasn't going to be much value going forward. :)
My broader point is twofold: the cat's perspective is just as utopian as Ideal Nanny State Mk3,5667 is, and monopoly doesn't require the corrupt assistance of an overhanging government; it requires the consolidation of power, which occurs in every regime humans have ever created.
An ultra-free market is a great ideal, but getting your village raided every spring by Vikings is a by-product. Once you've organized against external abuses, you've got a regulatory body.
Average humans don't want anything close to pure libertarianism, or we'd have it. Average humans are stupid and can barely control themselves and desperately want to be parented by something. 99% of humans on the planet have no desire and barely the ability to understand why they should care about non-fiat currencies, and if the Glorious AnCap Revolution ever comes, they'll end up being abused by the former AnCaps that DO understand it. Different boss, same as the old boss.

And that's the good news for today.
