I still hold on to the thing which keeps the UK different from the rest - case/precedent law. That is, to your point about "what happens when you try to manipulate complex bottoms up systems with simple answers dictated from the top down", the system of writing laws to deal with things which have been found to create ACTUAL PROBLEMS.
As we know, COVID-19 was never a problem bigger than a fairly bad seasonal flu. Which isn't a problem for over 99.9987% of people - - i.e. not a problem!
Yeah. A lot of these crooks did that from the start. Makes you wonder how much of the last two years was planned by them (planning their defense in advance) and how much was as a result of overactive politicians, ready to jump into action and prove their worth in an "emergency".... Certainly a bit of both.
