I said "many" and not "all" because I bet there are some life choices I haven't thought about or am unaware of. I am very careful of saying absolute words, as very often I will have to walk them back. Owning them would require being aware of them.
So perhaps you’ve made choices that maybe you weren’t aware were actually choices…or maybe they were made for you - everyone has been there for a myriad of reasons. Nonetheless, choices are subjective regardless. And saying something “absolutely” reveals your conviction & confidence. Walking it back simply means you need to do more research on the subject. And I can absolutely tell you that ALL of us have been there lots of times. How else do we learn about anything? You’re in friendly territory.
Indeed I am. The point though, is how can I quantify something that is an unknown? Maybe there will come a time when we can have an outside technology that quantifies all of our choices so that we can own them ALL. Until then, I will endeavor to say what I mean and stand by it.
I believe you just made a choice there at the end. Choices are personal. Why would want to quantify the unquantifiable? I get the impression (perhaps erroneously) you may have had a choice bite you in the ass. Been there, done that. Why would you want anything or anyone to quantify that? It’s uniquely yours, based on your knowledge & your beliefs absolutely and of course we own them, they’re ours to begin with. This sounds like a philosophy paper I did when I was a junior in high school.
I agree, hence the reason why I don't say owning "ALL" of them, because claiming ownership, like making the choice to begin with, is a personal decision. I think what you are getting at, but I could be wrong, is that regarldess of "owning" all my choices, I am responsible for them. I agree.
For instance, when someone chooses who they marry, they often blame the other person for their life turning out the way it did, but they made the choice to marry them. This is why, for people who have been abused, they often should get therapy as for some glitch in the human nature brain wiring, they almost can't help choosing people that are abusive.
And besides, if they’re not choices that are illegal or immoral but advance the quality and opportunities in your and/or your family’s life you can’t lose.
