A lingering question is even if they do, will it matter?
Muted in all the absurdity of 2021-22 which exceeded the level of absurdity in 2020 is that the elections in 2020 were far from "normal" and there remain serious questions as integrity moving forward. Simple numerical analysis reveals that in at least 6 states, more votes were cast than could be legally eligible voters. The D party primaries were beyond absurd, with many states moving the dates so often millions of voters simply didn't know when to vote, and the convention was even more bewilderingly corrupt than in 2016. In many states, elections officials proclaimed election law to be secondary to the direction they received from party leadership - more than one holding press conferences to brag about how they defied the law (and even the Supreme Court who, surprisingly, told officials in GA and PA that they were to follow the law as enacted - go figure!).
Since 2020 anyone raising any of these questions is subject to labeling "insurrectionist" and if you say it in a public place, possible incarceration. Meanwhile legislatures in many states have been busy enacting laws that share near identical text - as if crafted by a single hand and handed out to each state (say by a national political party). As if...undermining the local interests. In state after state, decades of districting shenanigans and other corruption has raised serious doubts as to how representative this republic really is today.
So even if enough wake up, will their votes actually matter? A harsh question, but key to our future IMO. If we can't correct course at the ballot box, well, I fear the alternatives as they are not good.
