We've all been subjected to a decades long psychological operation to convince us not to be mean. Telling the truth (for example, boys cannot become girls no matter what they do) may cause pain to some, but reality is reality. Compassion does not require us to pretend black is white or up is down. IMO, in most cases, the truth is the more compassionate path.
