In “Letter to an Agree-to-Disagree Relative” (https://margaretannaalice.substack.com/p/letter-to-an-agree-to-disagree-relative) under “megalomaniacal self-styled gods,” I link to this Unlimited Hangout article:

Thanks for posting this again. It's relevant to us as my husband crafts a response to his brother who feels it's appropriate to have all conversation topics vetted so they can refuse to engage if they don't want to talk about something. Of course my BiL refused to watch a 2 minute video I sent (which started this "discussion") so I have zero hope he'd read an essay that takes longer than 5 seconds to read.

So sorry, Birdingmom. I hope it helps in some way. I wish I could offer advice, but as you can see from my repeated failures, I haven’t yet figured out how to crack the impenetrable Covidian programming.

I think for him, it started long before covid - an unwillingness to learn from others/being unteachable.

I wouldn't label your attempts as failures b/c you don't know the end result for those who read your essays. See yourself as a gardener: they are seeds planted, others water and someone else may reap the harvest. 😺❤️

Ah, good point. Indeed, that close-minded intolerance has been sown in the culture for a long time, achieving peak fanaticism during Trump’s presidency and perfectly conditioning people for their Covidian programming.

I like the gardening metaphor—that’s a positive way to look at it :-)

Brilliant observation about the connection between TDS and conditioning for covid! He's been checking the boxes for awhile now.

To Birdingmom's well made point, you broadcast the seeds, some may be eaten but some may bear fruit after they travel

I think there's a widespread reluctance to acknowledge that they've been conned, to ineptly paraphrase Mr Twain's observation.

As with the shrink and the light bulb, first they really have to want to change...

Fascinating read on the Schwab family history. It almost seems like klaus surrounds himself with highly intelligent people and that has served him well.
