the 90's called, it wants its characters back
so, everyone is kind of saying that claudine gay probably plagiarized her dissertation and all and obviously that’s maybe a big deal because she’s the president of harvard and everything, but i’m sort of amazed that no one is suing her for copyright infringement.
i mean, jeez, could this be a more blatant rip off of “steve urkel” from “family matters”!
also: it seems pretty weird that 2020’s congressional testimony would have been a 90’s sitcom.
i’m not super sure what it says about the way things are going, but i’m pretty sure it’s not anything good…
The fake Ms. Gay is clearly such a deeply unimpressive person, who has, I’ve read, never published a single book for all her “rigorous scholarship,” (I don’t think publish-or-perish is a good economy for scholarship, but we would expect the president of Harvard to be above-grade in output and contributions in her field), that I assume there is NO WAY the search committee and board didn’t know she was a hack from the start - she just happens to fit in the suit. So of course they will defend her; they knew who they were hiring.
“Did I do that?” should be appended with: “even if I did, it doesn’t matter.”
