Nailed it on "mediocre". Mediocre and compliant. Harris was a better actor in the past, and I think The Party expected more from her as VP. But by the third month or so as VP they cut back on her visibility dramatically, clearly not wanting here to speak in public often.

Also agree that the real power is The Party, run by folks who stay well hidden. Clinton had charisma - I heard him speak in person. I could understand his selection for the role. He had problems off-script, but his charm overcame it. Obama had some charm, and was very good at sticking to the script. He struggled off-script (e.g. when the teleprompter failed), but this was infrequent and he never said or did anything that could not be spun after. The talk of Gavin being the next pres candidate supports your assertion that they've run out of stock. He's Harris without being female or non-white, and he says he's not gay. Not sure what they're going to do with all that ;-) I'd think they could find a young and compliant non-white gay female willing to play by The Party rules. I guess we'll see.

I will differ on your assessment of AOC. I was in a meeting with her staff last year. We did not expect her at this level of meeting. She showed up, and very quickly dispelled any notion that she had even a clue. Or a clue where to find a a clue. Not even the most basic "smarts" as to ask who we were and why were we meeting before starting to talk. Not even the basic smarts to realize that in a room full of technical experts she could learn something. Not the basic smarts to show a microgram of respect for her constituency, her staff, or any other humans in the room. What she lacked in smarts, intuition, and basic manners was replaced in huge quantity by extreme arrogance.

I've met with quite a number of members of congress over the years, including many with who's position (and party) I do not agree. Few were in person much like the public image. The image is part of the role. Some play dumb strategically. Most impressed me in some positive way. I can say with confidence that Waters and AOC are as they appear on camera - without a clue and proud of it. I walked away with nothing positive at all.

But that is just one person's perception. If you have the chance, judge for yourself.

Sometimes people use up their limited stores quickly. From what you've written that's AOC.

If you look at old photos of Kamala with Willie, she was absolutely glowing. She'd found her father substitute (with skeezy benefits) but a real person was there.

There's a particular tragedy to many of the fruit of multi-cultural pairings and then raised everywhere and ending up with no interior self. Kamala simulating black Southern woman made me want earplugs.

Obama was, really, the same but I guess there's really only room for one per era.

I'd say I'm done now with the whoring out of my integrity for the sake of the nation but unfortunately I'll be forced to vote Republican for the sake of my state if I'm around for a few more cycles. Locally it's fruitless but we avoided disaster for Governor and that's a meaningful achievement.
