The only time I've seen any of our dogs be aggressive with a human was when that human was threatening one of us (the dog's pack). It was the inherent nature of both the dog and myself to protect the pack. Truth be told the dog was not the real threat in that situation.

Dogs are in some ways like humans. We form bonds, we feel a duty to those with whom we've bonded. Like humans, dogs are very much a product of their conditioning, and training. Dogs (and people) can be taught to be mean, and dangerous. A favorite meme of mine is a picture of a little girl with a Rottweiler pup, which reads "many people think they are inherently dangerous, but if you raise them right they are not. Same goes for the dog."

That's how I see it.

My perception is colored by my experience. I've yet to have a dog turn on me. I can't say the same about humans.

All I am saying is that no one can absolutely 100% guarantee the behavior of their dog based on past behavior or current behavior. That's all.

True that. But I still think my dogs are more predictable (and reliable) than most people. And they like me. Which is not something I can say about that many people ;-).
