I would feel more confident in learning physical self-defense skills where I could gouge out somebody's eyes with my keys, or give them gangrene of the testicles, than in doing any sort of firearms training.

🤣🤣🤣

Seriously though, firearms act as an equalizer -- you can neutralize a threat at a distance, even when that threat is much more powerful than you -- male, younger, buff, on drugs, maybe more than one. Hand-to-hand combat is also a skill you can learn, and it has its place.

I wish you well in your decisions regarding what level of personal defense skills you feel comfortable with. Guns are not for everyone, though they can be a useful tool when things rapidly go from bad to worse.

I don't think you're wrong.

Funny story though: Over 45 years ago, in my nice quiet neighborhood in NY, two guys tried to mug me. One shoved a gun in my side.

It was a beautiful quiet evening, nobody on the street. I knew it was unlikely to end well if I screamed with that gun in my side, so I pushed it away and then screamed. The guys weren't expecting that. The guy with the gun smacked me in the head with it. I kept screaming and they moved away a little, and I knew I had no chance of getting away until they left.

So I ran after them yelling and they ran away, and as soon as they were out of sight I continued on to my friend's house and she called the cops for me. At that point I started shaking.

I tend to get mad first and think about it later. I was lucky, of course, that those two guys were idiots easily discouraged from their purpose.

All criminals are idiots. Somebody is always watching. Real strength comes from within. So raise the frequency high high
