cold winters beget spicy memes and lessons for us all
it’s sad watching “death or glory become just another story” as faded freedom rockers devolve into frightened, grumpy oldsters yelling “get off my lawn!” and turning their calls to question into authority into demands for submission to it.
but such is life, and so another torch is passed…
alas, it appears that on a long enough timeline, it all comes full circle and pretty soon notions like “freedom’s just another word for your body, i choose” get mistaken for protest songs.
but at least it used to be traditional to wait until your dotage to start yelling at clouds about how they are not a patch on the skies we used to get when i was a kid.
not so for the current crop of leaders. they abandoned the principles of their youth far, far younger and gave into the dark side much more easily.
let’s have a look at young justin, who not so very long ago espoused canada as a country of “openness, respect, of the rights of the individual, of freedom” and with great specificity “of freedom to do what you want with your body.”
and how quickly this became “if you will not do with your body what we tell you you are a racist, a sexist, anti-canada, and you must not be tolerated. your views are unacceptable.”
you’ve probably see the video at the start of this montage before. watch the rest. it’s awesome and datapoint 9,741 that all the good memes are on the side of freedom.
one key point stands inescapable:
it’s not that justin didn’t know or didn’t understand. it’s that he succumbed to the seduction of power and drowned in the narcissism of “but, when i force them to do things, it’s for their own good!” so prevalent in his “bien pensant” aristo-class.
and we all know where that goes.
right up until it doesn’t.
and so we land here, at the real truth:
and the “leaders” flee and hide leaving nothing behind but the echoes of mockery and the sizzling aroma of fresh, spicy memes.
and the people take back what is theirs by right.
and despite the suppression, the world is noticing.
truckistan is now cooler than burning man.
it’s not violent. it’s not hateful.
those are the other guys.
that is not who these people are.
these are the peaceful and implacable.
these are the masses, no longer huddled, and yearning to breathe free.
and they are not going away.

we’ve had quite enough of this and of people running the literal playbook of 1930’s fascism calling everyone else nazis and fascists and deplorables and hiding behind the skirts of godwin’s law like this was some game of “punch, no punchbacks.”
they have done this to hide their nature, to make it impermissible to call them by their names.
“antifa” is like calling mountain dew “toothpaste.”
performative public health is just another hobgoblin to stoke partisan conflict and pit the people against one another that they might be divided and thus conquered.
so godwin be damned. sometimes, they really are fascists.
but this went too far and all the lions woke up.
and they are not going back to sleep. this is not a thing that once seen comes unetched from your mind.
and so here we are:
the time of the demagogue is over.
the time of endless emergency to justify endless incursion is over.
the greatest mistake we made was not rolling back the emergency powers. they got out of control in the 30’s and 40’s and lay dormant.
they were unleashed again in the 2000’s when authoritarian left met authoritarian right and passed the patriot act in a time of national fear. the powers it granted were never surrendered and they paved the way for the next bi-partisan power grab of public health. wait until you see the energy/climate plans they have for you.
you simply cannot leave such power lying around. someone will find it. someone will use it again. and the very worst people will hunt for it. and, eventually, the politician you hate most will wield it against you. and worst, many who you thought were on your side will help them do it.
you just had an object lesson in this.
do you need another?
because unless you want one, this is the time to stand up and to stay standing. this is the time of rollback. this is the time to destroy these powers and take them away from unelected and unaccountable agencies and to develop the societal structures to resist them if they try this again.
canada is showing us the template for societal antibodies.
peaceful. implacable. ungovernable.
government by the CONSENT of the governed, not by their submission.

Trudeau just announced he is positive for covid. He says he's feeling fine and will work remotely and to " get vaccinated ". So still in hiding and spewing the same mantra. On a positive note ten thousand people attended a rally in Victoria British Columbia in front of the Provincial Parliament to hear Brian Peckford speak. He served as premier of Newfoundland and is the last living signatory of the 1982 Constitution and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms was enacted. He has filed a lawsuit in Federal Court seeking to strike down the Federal government's mandatory covid 19 vaccine requirements for air traveller's. His speech in Victoria was amazing.
