Waste of time, indeed. Sadly, I have pretty much divorced my entire family for this reason. They have all gone very far to the left, too far for us to hold a reasonable conversation. Five against one is not a fight I'm going to enter. The sister I mentioned is very much in favor of hormone blockers for prepubescent kids. Our gentle, kindly BOL, an administrative nurse, actually started talking to me about Alinsky while we drove to his stepson's wedding. I was shocked, had no idea that F. had ever heard of him. One of his idols, as it turned out. I love them all but need to remove myself from this level of toxicity.
From what I can glean from others on these discussion boards this "alienation" is commonplace. Seems I'm down to the "who blinks first" and it's not going to be me:-)
I have begged some of them to please, just show me where I'm wrong, incorrect, with something resembling facts and they can't. It always shocks me given their level of education and oaths they've taken as part of their professions. I can change, I hope, but not just because of alienation, denial of affection, no way.
