CS Lewis also said, it’s the moral busybodies who are the worst tyrants because “those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
Why is that too many democrats are unable to see what hypocrites these politicians are? (i.e., rich old Bernie, becoming rich AOC, et. al.,) Cognitive dissonance is the only explanation b/c they see the democrats as the “kind, gentler” party and see the GOP as the wealthy neocons not paying their rich man "fair" share. They can’t see that both parties are corrupt – hence the term “uni-party.”
Thats because it takes real guts to stand up to social tyranny. Ask a general what's more difficult:
To shed blood on a battlefield or to stand alone against the masses. I resisted the plandemic in every way possible...but i ain't gonna lie it could be terrifying at times.
'People have been found to resist the most powerful monarchs and to refuse to bow down before them, but few indeed have been found to resist the crowd, to stand up alone before misguided masses, to face their implacable frenzy without weapons and with folded arms to dare a no when a yes is demanded."

She nailed it. And that's where tyranny takes its hold:
When you look at Covid-19 as the global human experiment that Covid was, Solomon Asch could have predicted the outcome in the 1950s. In his conformity experiment, only 10%-30% of the people are strong enough in their own opinions/beliefs that they won’t conform to what they know is wrong, while the majority (mob) – conform, no matter how outlandish the idea. It’s crazy to think that nearly 70% bow down to mob opinion. Yikes!
YIKES! Is about all that can be said. "... the greater part of the population is not very intelligent, dreads responsibility, and desires nothing better than to be told what to do. Provided the rulers do not interfere with its material comforts and its cherished beliefs, it is perfectly happy to let itself be ruled."
The few who understand the system, will either be so interested from it's profits or so dependent on it's favors, that there will be no opposition from that class.
Yet another, it is my opinion, 2024 was a counterrevolution to the Color Revolution of 2020. A mixture of Populists and if by disaffected Democrats you mean FDR, HST, JFK Democrats, then I'm guilty as charged. Those currently usurping the title Democrat are Jacobins! A revolution is not a dinner party, or writing an essay, or painting a picture, or doing embroidery. It cannot be so refined, so leisurely and gentle, so temperate, kind, courteous, restrained and magnanimous. A revolution is an insurrection, an act of violence by which one class overthrows another.
There is only one party in the United States, the Property Party...and it has two right wings: Republican and Democrat. Republicans are a bit stupider, more rigid, more doctrinaire in their laissez-faire capitalism than the Democrats, who are cuter, prettier, a bit more corrupt - until recently... and more willing than the Republicans to make small adjustments when the poor, the black, the anti-imperialists get out of hand. But, essentially, there is no difference between the two parties."
Disagree with Vidal b/c far left is total government control (totalitarianism) and far right is anarchy (no government control). Most of the people find common ground in the center, compromising here and there to make the American dream possible for the people. But the federal government has been growing and growing where we have the unelected “deep state”- oligarchy in both parties since human nature is self-serving.
Since Left of center has grown towards thinking “government” is the answer to all problems, the Left has moved further to totalitarianism. Many people don't get that fascism is a totalitarian government - the state controls the corporations and it is all the way to the left.
And here lies the conundrum: People on the Left believe they are the better ones (and they are when it comes to being considerate of others because they are Right - pun intended). They are empathetic and feel more for the Other, thus making them better people. They make their decisions based on their feelings, not facts. That is why many young people, including a brainiac like Thomas Sowell, are/were attracted to Marxism. And, by age 30, after working for the federal government, Dr. Sowell started to see that facts matter more than feelings and that marxism might sound good but is in fact total BS that doesn't understand human nature - that of being self-serving, always.
Maybe the Left used to be more empathetic and feel more for the Other but not any longer. The Left honors, encourages and lives in victimhood. They are the least empathetic to others if others disagree. They still believe they are the better ones in their self-righteous victim thought patterns.
Regarding Fascism, it seems to me it's a government that is controlled: "The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerated the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power. Franklin D. Roosevelt As to the Left, it's been this way, for a long time: If you don't vote Socialist/Communist before you are twenty, you have no heart - if you do vote Socialist/Communist after you are twenty, you have no head. Georges Clemenceau

Very true.

True...but it was no more than 2% with c19.
Its still just shocking to me, but than again, it's like they'd been crate training the population for this since passing The Patriot Act.
When you abandon freedom to achieve security, you lose both and deserve neither.

My instinctual internal response to every proposition placed before me is "No". And then I work from there.

Its the whole"why don't you take the log out of your own eye before trying to remove the speck in your brother's eye" syndrome.
Our new "republican" government is the unwanted child of the uniparty, a bunch of disaffected democrats, exemplified by Donald Trump.
