I was born and raised overseas. Lived in Venezuela & lived through whatever revolution was going on in the 50’s (there were always some sort of revolt going on). Lived in Libya for over 10 years, was there when Gaddafi took power. Lived in Switzerland, Italy and Cyprus. Traveled widely throughout Europe and the Middle East. Cyprus was an eye opener. In those days there was a Greek section of the country with Turkish territory as well. To get from Nicosia to the northern coast (Greek), we had to take a UN Convoy, with armed UN soldiers, through the Turkish territory. The difference between the 2 was astounding. Everything was lush, clean and prosperous on the Greek side. As soon as we passed into the Turkish side, there was trash everywhere, the ground was bare, dogs roaming the streets, and little evidence of any kind of economy.
All this to say, I’ve seen the best of many of these countries and the decline that followed. What many westerners fail to understand, is a majority of the “immigrants” being placed in their countries (legally or illegally) will not assimilate, do not want to assimilate and will make western civilizations into replicas of the countries those same immigrants wanted to leave!
