I was listening the other day to a random news story stating that they need to "reconfigure" hurricane category guidelines because wind is really not the biggest threat, but the amount of water generated.

It sounds rational on the surface, except I think it's just a way to further "pathologize" hurricanes. They want to make each disaster sound far worse than it actually is. Then, of course, when those of us who have seen and experienced the same type of disasters (which can be bad) are called minimizers and denialists.

No, we aren't denying and minimizing, we just aren't going into fear and panic mode.
