This is why I disable news aggregators on any new phone I get. Anytime anyone sends me an appl.news or goog.news link I don't read it and ask for a synopsis so I can search for the headline, load it into archive.is, and read it that way, if i'm that interested. CNN or any legacy media links? unless it's some groundbreaking story like overturning Roe, i'm not clicking it, likely not engaging with anyone who's posting it.
I have weaned my mother off tv legacy media, and now she's watching a lot of youtube and some rumble. It's not perfect but I'd rather she watch cpac and c-span than legacy media here.
I got her subscribed to all the substacks I follow and she reads as she pleases. She'd never had thought of these alternatives on her own.

I actually was not outraged, fearful, or smug (the default currencies today's political and social climate, to be sure). My reaction is increasingly "of course". Society seems to be on a glide path to utter and complete absurdity. Part of me wonders who, if anyone, is coordinating all of this? Davos? It's too rapid and coordinated to be chance. I think the same thing when I see gas prices. WTF is their end-game? It seems to be the complete dissolution of society. I'm glad I am not young.

I think part of the false dichotomies that are presented (left vs right, straight vs gay, conservative vs liberal) are meant to keep us fighting over trivialities instead of taking a good look at what the Kleptocracy is doing and to start demanding transparency and accountability.
