For me the jury is still out on Trump (3rd party voter here), but I will say that while he did not drain the swamp, he certainly uncovered the stench for all of us to recognize where it is. Knowing where and what it is, is the first step to eradicating it. You can't eradicate what is hidden. Trump tore the band-aid off to reveal the rotting wound.
