californian medical commissars
the best way to enforce a false orthodoxy of experts is to predicate their livelihoods upon ideological purity
i do not usually simply post the work of others and say “go read this” but i am going to post the work of gatopal™ and personal friend jay bhattacharya here.
jay has stood very tall over covid, co-authoring the great barrington declaration and engaging in endless and spirited defenses of sense, reason, and rights.
he has been in the crosshairs of cancel culture and “expert” nastiness precisely because he is, unlike most of his critics), in fact, an expert.
and this is why they came for him with such uncommon fervor, for when the claims of your ideology are grounded in technocratic notions of “the experts say” then that which is least tolerable to you are members of the credentialed class who oppose your narrative, especially when they have the temerity to (gasp) keep being proven correct.
read carefully about what is going on in california. this bill would require medical boards to censure and/or take the licenses of doctors who, in their own best medical judgment, convey publicly or even privately to patients medical information or advice that the state has deemed “misinformation” about covid.
this is the classic “find an emotional case that will make people give up their rights while thinking they are being served” tactic that i was literally discussing literally yesterday. this is the full blown trojan framing.
it’s the precedent that sets up the next outrage because no longer is the question:
“how do we protect the sanctity of the doctor patient relationship and of free speech?”
“upon which issues shall we allow unelected commissars to overrule health professionals in the pursuit of their duties and the expression and dissemination of their experiences and judgment?”
once you surrender to that framing, you’re going to get whatever flavor of lysenkoism or other such dogmatic doggerel is popular this week rammed down your throat. good and hard.
just imagine where they will try to use it next.
anyone who tries to protect you from it will be stripped of credentials and livelihood by some 25 year old aggrievement studies major from berkeley who is deliriously in love with their “medical commissar: political ideology division” hall monitor sash.
and so you’ll land at:
all doctors say X.
“i’m a doctor and i do not say that.”
all doctors say X…
the propaganda mill will be running full steam to manufacture purported unanimity of expert opinion by cowing into silence or decertifying any who dissent.
the time to oppose such things is now. reject the framing. reject the premise. reject the invitation to trade the right of experts to speak and practice their trade for the false promise of safety.
the process of science lies in dispute, not dogmatism.
this sort of political commissar system is the road to technocratic serfdom.
so, go read jay’s guest piece with bari.
if it speaks to you, like it.
if the urge takes you, forward it.
this is a message i think needs wide dissemination.
spread the signal. do not let this happen in darkness.
we the people have had a bellyful of they the bullies pushing tyranny on us by selling the usurpation of our choices as a public good.
we stop it by exposing ideas like this as the totalitarian trojan horses that they are and by making sure they never find their way into law.
the time has come to draw a line and say “no further” and to commence retaking our lives and liberties.
if not you, who?
if not now, when?
