Whenever I miss my native California, I remind myself that politicians are still trying actively to destroy it. Sigh.

It’s a sad state of affairs here. I wish I could leave but cannot until 2029. The other bills proposed include mandatory c19 shots for kids to attend daycare and school, shots for employees in all of California and shots for kids 12 and older without parental consent. In fact at my child’s middle school they announced kids can come to the vax clinic without parental consent. Luckily my child knows this is insane.

Expand full comment

Hoping none of this passes. How anyone could think more shots are a good idea at this point, I have no idea. Especially not for kids.

Wishing you the best.

Expand full comment

I wish it wouldn't pass but with the makeup of the legislature in Sacramento the Democrats don't need anything other than their party members to vote for it and it will pass. One thing I know about Dems is that they stick together no matter the backdoor infighting. Most hate the shunning or punishment that occurs should they attempt to be an individual and not a part of the Democrat Borg.

I am so with you. We try to figure where to move, and come up with a blank. Our daughter and their family have sold their house, made a tidy profit, and plan to move out of California this summer. They also plan to homeschool. I am most thankful that she and her husband have critical thinking abilities and use them for the health and safety of their family.

Yes, you have choice. Protect your kids against this madness. Leave Kalipornia

Nope. I would need permission from the ex spouse to take kids and he won’t give it. So I can’t. I’m not alone in this conundrum. It’s awful.

What's interesting is that if you have some money you can insulate yourself from 95% of the nuttiness here. We are here for a few more years before we can escape, but live in a wonderful (but expensive) little corner of California with spectacular views, nice people, sane local politics, clean air, and very low crime. Yeah it's costly with housing, taxes, and having to pay for Christian schools for our kids, but I'm paid well so it works out, plus we've built a ton of equity. No one bothers us and we socialize with like-minded folks. There really are still some wonderful places in the state.

What's ironic (and frankly difficult to comprehend) is that the people who don't have money, and are the most harmed by the nuttiness here, keep voting for it!! It's like the "thank you sir may I have another!" scene from Animal House. They are brain-washed and trust Gavin Newson's "empathy" but can't fathom that his policies are why their kids risk getting shot at school (if not turned into homosexual activists first).

I've given up trying to convince them, and focus on keeping our little of the corner of the state sane. But we are keeping a close eye on exit.

I have been screaming this from the rooftop. I live in San Francisco; we have been great (city destroyed). I actually had a great two years with my boys and wife in the backyard and the Golden Gate Park. But that's precisely the problem. This whole fiasco destroyed the working poor.

As I understand the pending legislation re: vaccination of kids in schools, then it could be required even for kids in private schools, yes? Otherwise, I guess if you don't have a California employer affected by that other law, yes, it seems you could ride it out.

Expand full comment

Yes it does apply to private schools but our school will not comply if parents object on religious grounds (if it is passed which is not certain). The school has made this crystal clear to parents and will file a lawsuit if it comes to that. They already have legal counsel.

Also, the proposed law only requires schools to check Covid vax status "at first admission" so those already attending are effectively exempt regardless.

As to the employer vax requirement, it is supposedly DOA for this session due to business community objections. Even if it does pass it has a religious exemption provision. I already have a religious objection accommodation from my employer from the ill-fated federal contractor mandate so am also already covered there.

Yeah, things are nutty here but it's not as bad as portrayed by people that don't live here (unless you are low income and stuck living in the hellhole parts of the state). That being said, we'll only be here a few more years as it's way too expensive to live in a sane area.

I was surprised to see his article in Bari’s Substack yesterday. She sits on the fence on these issues but boosting him is perhaps her way of coming around. Glad to see it. We need high visibility folk jumping the fence.

I read this yesterday and I hope it gets good circulation. In 2019 everything Dr. Bhattacharya wrote would be uncontroversial, even trite. Now it is, according to some, fascist and dangerous. I hope within his lifetime he'll see the inevitable historical vindication of the GBD and of focused protection.

It seems the only reason to write a bill focused on covid ‘misinformation’ at this point in the so-called pandemic (when it is all but over and the virus has become endemic), is to have the ability in the future to broadly apply bans on doctors using ‘misinformation’ when they treat their patients. It will not be limited to covid.

Doctors lost their independence when the became Healthcare Providers, little more than employees of medical corporations. They don’t have the means to fight against this type of censorship without potentially losing their jobs. It is upon the voting public to prevent laws like the one proposed in California from being passed.

Jay's post is good, but too weak in one particular area that you, el gato malo, discussed yesterday or the day before and that many commenters parrotted: REJECT THE PREMISE, don't argue the other side of it.

Here's Jay, over on Bari's Substack:

"Another statement in the bill’s preamble asserts that the “safety and efficacy of Covid vaccines have been confirmed through evaluation by the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA).” But vaccine safety also depends on any given patient’s clinical circumstances. For example, there is an elevated risk of myocarditis in young men taking the vaccine, especially with the booster."

That is a weak, or at least woefully incomplete, rebuttal, IMO.

Vaccines would typically undergo 3-5 YEARS of testing before the decision on whether to approve would be made. These jabs have been around for 15 months, and, were made available after about 90 DAYS of (rigged) testing, after which the control group was jabbed!!

This statement: the “safety and efficacy of Covid vaccines have been confirmed through evaluation by the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA)" is patently and completely false, a g/d LIE, because there exists exactly ZERO long-term data about the jabs' "safety and efficacy".

No such "safety and efficacy" can possibly be "confirmed" in the short time the jabs have been available...and I might add, are STILL only available under an EUA. If in fact the “safety and efficacy of Covid vaccines have been confirmed through evaluation by the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA)", then there would be no more need for the EUA and it could and would be rescinded.

THAT kind of rebuttal is needed against the POS human beings in the CA legislature who are advancing this bill. That kind of rebuttal, not the milquetoast "oh, but myocarditis".

Reject the premise, dammit. Don't argue it. REJECT IT.

Expand full comment

That struck me too. And the part where it's "undeniable" that the vax has greatly reduced serious illness in older people. Really?!

Expand full comment

Good one, too.

How can it be "undeniable" when there's no long-term safety or efficacy data??

He was speaking to Bari Weiss' audience, and many of them (I assume) are left-leaning. What a missed opportunity, it seems to me, to have woken them up to the fundamental realities that ARE undeniable.

I read jay bhattacharya's piece and indeed found it alarming to say the least. I was going to comment and share, however I was not able to comment as it required me to have a subscription to do so... so I did not share. If this is so important, which I truly believe it is, why should I have to pay to express my allegiance. Is that Free Speech... NO... that is: you can express yourself if you pay to do so. Seems sorta like passive Cancel Culture, those who cannot afford to pay, loose. I am super disappointed in this. I understand people have to make a living, but do they have to do so on things that could be so critical to mankind's survival... is not the service of mankind noble enough on its own that one has to be paid to fight for it? Maybe I am a conspiracy theorist, but all these actions, all these "trojan framings" have one goal in mind... that people suffer and die. Now what "force" in the universe would want to support suffering and death? I can only think of one... yup, you guessed it... Evil and Satan. And if you do not believe Satan exists, he already owns you by the way. This is not a war against doctors, power-hungry, weak politicians, corrupt media, greedy woke business leaders, brain-washed college kids, etc... this is a fight against Satan and evil (BTW, if you want to get a glimmer of what hell is like, https://twitter.com/i/status/1514085286489247744). And by the way, Satan wins when you have to pay to fight against him. So I am left with the only weapon I can afford... in actuality the most powerful weapon of all... and jeez go figure, it is free, which is not surprising given the supplier... I will continue to pray to God for "We the People" of God. In the meantime, thank you el gato, jay bhattacharya, and all you solders of truth. I will always support you using the tools at my disposal. But please forgive my humble efforts, for prayers, and evangelization (when it does not rely on the dollar) are the only two I seem to have these days.

You have the right to express yourself; you do NOT have the right to force someone else to pay for your platform.

I mean, didn't you pay for whatever means you used to write what you wrote above? A computer, or a tablet, or a smartphone, plus an internet connection?

Were those given to you for free, because you have a right to them?

C'mon.

Expand full comment

I never said I had a right... and you are 1,000% correct, I was not asking for something for free, I was just positing a thought, a poser, a question, an idea. But I do have a choice... as we all do. The choice on substack was to request a subscription to respond. My choice was to decline the subscription. Both choices are valid and legitimate. I also indicated my unwavering support to all the solders of truth, not just el gato and jay bhattacharya. I love them both, and I pray for them both. I will pray for you too "¡Andrew the Great!" and ask God to help you live up to the moniker you've chosen... it is a high bar... and I suspect you will need His help. I wish you a wonderful day.

"why should I have to pay to express my allegiance. Is that Free Speech... NO... that is: you can express yourself if you pay to do so." sure sounds like an expectation of a right to me, an "asking for something for free".

But anyway, I think you were referring to Bari Weiss' Substack, right? I'm gonna go over there right now and see if I can use the "Give gift" button to give you a one month subscription to her "Common Sense" Substack. Fingers crossed that it works. I pay-subscribe to her Substack, so I hope this works.

Hi Andrew... First, I want to thank you, really, really, for your offer to Bari Weiss' Substack. Wow... I was really surprised!!!

As far as your supposition, I was not referring to Bari... I had not even heard of Bari... I guess I live sort of a sheltered life {:-?}

As far as my prior comment and asking for something for free... getting something for free was never my intention. I was just sad really that I could not provide some support to jay directly through his post. Yes, it would only be words, but I figure good words (me being a little presumptuous here I realize), when spoken out loud, or in this case posted into the web-o-sphere, leads to positive results... so it hurts to have to limit them.

As far as subscriptions go, there are many people on Substack that I really love who put really good words and truth out there. But subscribing to all of them is just something I do not have the means to do. I am on a fixed income, and especially now days, have to be very careful about expenses. My funds are disappearing at an alarming rate these days... it has me seriously scared frankly.

When you purchase a subscription to a newspaper, a journal, cable TV, etc., you get access to a number of "sources..." on Substack, each "source" requires its own subscription. So subscribing to a number of people would get very expensive. I wish Substack would offer something like "Package Deals" But I guess that is not their business model.

Used to be when free speech was indeed free, there was a lot of it. And you could filter through it all to find good words, and because of the many views expressed, you could usually uncover the truths in the deluge. Now-a-days seems only the garbage is free and you have to pay to find the good words that lead you to the truth. Lack of good words in the onslaught of garbage in "free" open conversation/dialog I believe is what is really causing problems in our society today... lack of at least some exposure to the good words leads to bad outcomes for our society.

Anyway, thanks so much for your conversation and your super generous offer. Again, no sarcasm... really, really thank you. And as I said... I will pray for you and all of the good people out there _/\_.

You've earned your "Great" moniker for today ;-)!!

It certainly makes me wonder whether state licensure boards are necessary. Why not just let people choose their own doctors? When I look for a new doctor, I don’t look to see whether they have been approved by the state. I ask friends for recommendations and try to find out about that doctor’s reputation before I commit.

I called Assemblyman Evan Low's office this morning. I told him that his arrogance and ignorance in proposing AB 2098 is precisely the toxic combination that led me to close my business and exit California. I suggested that if there are any deadly purveyors of medical misinformation in CA it is the gaggle of political public health morons--and the Charlie McCarthy dummy pols who parrot them. From the voice on the assemblyman's answering message, it sounds like Low's staff is pre-pubescent. At 39 years old, I can only marvel at the wisdom and knowledge that Low has absorbed during his short life that allows him to dictate the topics of conversation that are permissible between physicians and their patients. Oh, to have Darth Vader's ability to constrict the esophagus of such little tyrants.

Its not the state killing itself. It is the elites here killing the populace. And we can't exactly vote them out since they can pay drug addicts to steal ballots from mailboxes, have others print ballots, and then just legally dump them all in ballot boxes. They passed ballot harvesting first here in CA as a testbed and then went nationwide with the strategy.
