Usually a mix of resignation that it can’t happen here and depends quite frankly on whether or not they are critical thinkers. The movement to a one party government in the US right now couldn’t be any more clear. Heck they aren’t even pretending to be clandestine because the stenographers and activists have given them cover. Just look at “their science” that is not open to debate.
