The number one takeaway of the last 2 years is simple and clear: we must remove emergency powers from our law books. Or, at an absolute minimum, make them very hard to enact and only for very specific criteria and with very, very limited timeframes. What the city of Ottawa is doing to my peaceful, liberty-minded countrymen is a disgrace to all we stand for in this country. And why I doubled my GiveSendGo contribution.

I've donated as well and will continue to do so, weekly. How disgusting that the police would enforce these orders. We do need more trucks, more farmers, more non-compliance; the war has begun.

I doubled my donation too, after Gofundme stole the first one. And I'll keep donating, as long as the truckers need help.

In my province, Nova Scotia, it lasts two weeks. Then they just re-declare it. Every second Friday. Apparently forever…

In Nova Scotia the minister of municipal affairs signs the SOE every two weeks. Mr. Lohr does so without having read the emergency measures act. They all have fallen in line without question. We now know who will be the people to escort those out of the catlle cars.

Expand full comment

It’s really disgusting that in NS we have - essentially - a complete abrogation of all laws at the whim of our “leaders”. The definitions in the Act are so broad that any Premier could just hijack this province infinitely. Thus, a $10k fine for standing on a highway overpass in support of the freedom convoy truckers.

It’s absolutely obscene.

That's dispicable.

I think it depends on which emergency they are declaring and if it's local (city) or state. Some red governors aren't any better than the Nazi governors in the blue states about some of the emergency powers. Our governor just re-upped his for the 23rd time. 😑

Maybe the government should only be able to declare an emergency for long enough to hold a referendum of the people who can then vote on it. Right? Something like 2 weeks max, and then the people vote. And then they re-vote every 4 weeks. Make it difficult and democratic.

In the USA, there's no "emergency power" in the constitution as the framers knew this would be a trap door for abuse.

They will also need to change tactics. A convoy of unarmed vehicles that (thankfully, for now anyway) cannot fight its way in, will not work the next time. The police will just set up roadblocks and send them to holding lots, as they've done in Ottawa.

Next time they will need to come in under stealth. Coordinated in advance. A few at a time, staging temporarily in non-obvious groups and locations. Then at the pre-arranged time, they all move in synchrony to their destination. From all directions simultaneously. Run silent, run deep.

I just drove yesterday from Utah down to California on the I-15. There were several Las Vegas Metro Police units in AWD pickups staged along the way. These were not your normal traffic cops -- they were, I suspect, the advance guard looking for anyone in an organized procession heading for Las Vegas (this was ~100 miles North of Vegas, BTW) and possibly further South to Los Angeles or San Diego.

With talk of disrupting the Super Bowl next Sunday in LA, it looks like the cops are taking no chances. (And BTW, disrupting the Super Bowl would be a terrible strategic mistake. The Super Bowl is one of those key events in the sporting world that just about all of the folks who are supporting this effort find important. Disrupting it would alienate supporters unnecessarily.)

I hope (and expect) that this Super Bowl talk is all misdirection. The plan is likely quite different, and while the cops are sitting on the side of I-15 (and I-10, I-5 etc) looking for convoys or whatever, the good guys are stealthily working on a completely different plan.

I think this is true -- evidence of much planning in the Canadian convoy is described already by others above.

As this evolves, tactics must change. The success of the Ottawa event is proof that there was extensive planning. Folks capable of this level of organization know that surprise is an important part of the strategy. Keep them guessing, alternate your moves, don't do the same thing twice. They can't keep waiting for every possibility forever; they will tire and lose focus. That is when you surprise them.

In Desert Storm, the Iraqi military was absolutely gobsmacked by the US Army coming across the barren, featureless desert in their vehicles, flanking the dumbfounded Iraqis. "How did you get here?" they asked. The GIs pointed to their GPS units -- game-changing technology. Just one example of how to surprise your opponent. Doing something unexpected almost always provides a strategic advantage.

keeping it non violent won't get you anywhere. Force is needed to remove them from power. All you idiots who say don't use violence are a bunch of pussies and do not realize what it will take to win. Name call all you like, but you insult your most likely allies in any war to come at your peril. I come from a family of military-trained, well-armed folks who know that the best way to win a war is without having to fire a shot. That said, we're well prepared to aim true and be efficient with our ammo if the day comes that our enemies do.

Trudeau and his ilk have almost total control of the media, the media will be used as a weapon to mischaracterize ANY act of violence (even justified self-defense) into a 24-loop on the supposed "insurrection" happening in Ottowa, which will then be used to call in the military (who will have the tacit support of the 80% of the populace who believe everything they see on TV) to suppress the unarmed, peaceful protesters. And by suppress I mean kill or imprison without due process or trial. See also: Jan 6 political prisoners in the USA.

Much harder to convince the mindless idiots glued to their TVs that the protesters are "the bad guys" when they can't get any video evidence of them doing anything wrong. Psyops are a big part of this campaign... and have been used against the people for the last 2 years. Now a very well-trained, well-organized group of people are using this demonstration as a psyop to retake power they let be taken from them. The longer they can keep it effective (it clearly is... or the government wouldn't be shrieking so loudly) and free of violence, the harder it is for the government to justify their continued tyranny and overreaction.

Seems to me we're in that dangerous (surreal) end-stage of the collapse of a totalitarian system, and we've seen this before. The anarchy that has been flowing from 'the elites' of the planet has been met - finally - with coherent and resounding resistance across the globe.

But this is that point where anything can happen, including outright chaos.

If you think these Marxists in Ottawa (and across the rest of the planet) are just going to acquiesce and let go of the power they've conferred on themselves, then, respectfully, you don't understand history and what is coming next...and it seems that most folks are basically sleep-walking into a conflict they really don't understand.

Because this isn't 'just' a stance against Ottawa; it's an alignment against the wealthiest on the planet who have been funding academia, defense and intelligence, media and the 'deep state' unelected/unaccountable hiding in the shadows of multiple countries.

Everything you're watching play out in Ottawa is meant to protect the wealth, and the power of these folks, and they aren't going to give it up without a very REAL fight.

Expand full comment

Yes, all true. But as with the fall of the USSR, events, once initiated, become difficult to foresee much less control. I'm fond of the expression, "You can start the fire, but you cannot control the wind."

Everyone knew that the USSR would fall, they all predicted 'wag the dog' and that millions might die; they though it would not happen for another 10-15 years. Nobody foresaw Gorbachev handing the keys to the kingdom to Yeltsin. But that's what happened.

The 'powers that be' of the Global Reset and New World Order do indeed have a lot to lose. They will not give up without a fight, and this is indeed about much more than just Canada and a group of truckers fighting unconstitutional vax mandates. But still, faced with insuperable odds, there comes a time when retreat is the only option. That time is when the truckers continue to gain support, police no longer want to oppress their countrymen, and the political opposition senses an opportunity to stand up.

Maxime Bernier is the one most likely to see the light. If things keep going as they are, it is only a matter of time. Tick-tock, tick-tock.

I like that saying about fire. If the powers that be don’t see that the world is behind these truckers with the amount of money that has been donated then they are serious imbeciles. I would guess that most of these donations are fairly small which means a massive number supporting this.

You are right, KatLee. I wrote this on another of Gato's posts couple days ago, and it is worth repeating here (as it is more on topic; the other was musings of a kitty in a rainstorm in paradise -- amazing where Gato's followers can take a thread):

Somebody(ies) really don't want those truckers to succeed. They see the freedom convoy for what it is: the lead galleon, coming up over the horizon, in a flotilla of hundreds or perhaps thousands of ships, still a distance away -- but that distance is closing. Sails whipping cleanly and proudly in the wind, inexorable in its progress.

And all of those (us) who are supporting them, not only give them aid and comfort -- our mere existence sends chills down the spines of the wannabe puppet-masters. With convoys starting all over Canada and the world (Helsinki today, apparently), that flotilla looms large over their dream of a totalitarian, fascist world with them the elites. With every cash donation, every person donating food, fuel and encouragement, their ramparts look weaker and smaller, their defenses wholly inadequate to the task.

That is why 'they' are doing this. Don't let them win.

(ps -- I should add that 'this' in the last line refers to the DDoS (distributed denial of service) cyberattack which was launched against the truckers' new GiveSendGo crowdfunding page. 'They' don't want the truckers to know that they aren't alone, that tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands, of supporters are out there and sending help.)

Not just bringing more trucks, but redeploying them to blockade every major transportation artery into the city with more big rigs and tractors than can possibly be moved.

Then blockade power stations, port facilities, and roll rigs onto airport runways.

Then start blocking smaller roads.

In three to five days the shelves will be empty, the gas pumps dry and the trapped rulers will start to behave like the vermin they are.

Be sure the pigs fire the first shots and it is all captured on camera for the world to see.

Bring the fucking government to its knees, and then kick it to the curb.

Expand full comment
founding

I disagree.

Blockading government buildings and police stations would:

1. Give them a propaganda advantage as it could be further spun as an "attack" with a veneer of credibility and be ripe for a false flag.

2. It would concentrate their forces into a small area rather than distributing them over a wider territory, thus making them vulnerable to encirclement themselves and allowing the government to concentrate forces against them.

3. Ottowa is a government town, obviously. The best way to get through to craven government creatures is by making them cold and hungry, not by overtly targeting the hand that feeds them and enforces their gravy train.

Expand full comment

I wonder if it might be better to move on to actions like wide spread strikes and sick outs. The authorities can attack and disperse protests, especially in difficult climates like Canadian winter where they are depending on delivery of supplies. They can arrest key leaders and fog up leadership communications. They can commit false flag acts of violence.

With general strikes, they simply cannot force people to perform their work. I do believe that it is true they want to crash global markets and blame it on covid to cover for the inevitable crash of 12 years of bubble inflation by central banks; however, the more important focus for now is to break the stranglehold that the elites have on government power.

Waking up normal people won't happen by anything like a protest, which relies largely on news coverage for impact and reach. Perhaps total market dysfunction and the the disruption of many services might penetrate the veil of media propaganda more effectively.

A general strike ended the Kapp Putsch in four days. Berlin, 1920.

Forcing or coercing someone to take something into their body that they don't want is a form of assault, a form of rape. It is unethical and immoral. To

those who say --- "Well I took the shot so it's no big deal" --- you consented. It is a bit like saying --- "I had sex with my partner so what right do others have to complain if my partner forces sex on them."

Have these people lost the ability to think? Are they that party trained? Are they that loyal to the tribe they identify with that they will support whatever the tribal leaders say?

Sorry, I forgot, much of the North East and West coast worship at the alter of Big Government and don't share the views of us Texans, where Government IS the enemy and regulations should be minimal. You have a right to work, unions are weak to non-existent, God, Family, and community all come before anything the government says. We have been ignoring the Feds most of the pandemic now.

For most sensible cats, insurrection basically amounts to "I'm not interested in living under your rules". It does not translate to "I don't want to live under your rules but I want to make my own AND rule over you". There's a big f$#&in' difference.

So when a thousand trucks clogging the city run out of fuel, what's the plan again?

Expand full comment

People are arriving with jerrycans of fuel and food.

I just saw a Viva Frei livestream recording from this morning in which a citizen reported that last night when truckers were refueling with jerrycans, cops came upon them and tried to seize them. The trucker shouted out "We need CAMERAS!!!" and about 20 other people descended, and to which the cops backed off. It is possible they have their orders to keep the cop-optics (coptics?) pristine. City leaders are going to hate what comes next: A cryptocurrency fundraiser for COPS who stand up to tyranny and get fired. If it has not already begun, it should begin immediately.

Unfortunately for the “elites” they have less strategy planning ability than a 4 year old playing checkers. Keep donating on GiveSendGo………. It’s about to spread……. Likely to every major Canadian city in any province that hasn’t dropped the mandates. The convoy organizers aren’t remotely frazzled. They are sending the message at press conferences that Justin hiding is doing exactly what they had long expected and that will bring phase two which will bring the party and the horns to even more woke homes. 😂

Ottawa (not in my country) apparatchiks might be interested to see what happens in tense confrontations with oppressive police powers by reviewing the "Bundy standoff" of 7 years ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bundy_standoff See the April 12 festivities in which Former Vice President Biden's BLM sent in sharpshooters, just like Ottawa did in order to cover the fuel confiscator cops. The standoff ended when said government gunmen "providing cover" were notified by drone footage that they, themselves, had been stealthily outflanked by retired military snipers with eyes-on. Ooof. A hasty government fallback was ordered. Cops love their families too, and they get my full support and praise right up until they execute illegal orders. After that, they are on their own, left to deal with Canadian, um, woodsman culture....at a distance. I pray the cops make the right call.

I don't know why I picked this guy, but he had posted some updates on the situation in ottawa, so I sent him the below message. This is all such a big sad disgusting joke!

Dear Josh, are you a journalist? Just wondering if you think if it would make sense to get some first hand accounts of the violence and harassments all the major news outlets are reporting on. I spent a half a day last week watching videos and reading first hand accounts, and oddly enough I could not find one negative event, action or sentiment. Weird huh? Especially when your brave PM was saying all those things about violence and racist stuff happening there. Also was thinking it might be interesting if a journalist with some integrity would do a piece comparing the BLM protest of Summer 2020 to what is happening in your city now. What do you think? Also, serious question: What do bounce houses represent to you? Thank you for your time, Kasha

So the governement has drawn first blood and demonstrated to the citizenry that the laws and ordinances all mean one thing and one thing only:

Obey.

I do believe the citizenry should respond in kind, while they are still able to do so.

Ooo, that last cat meme. I wonder what the parent did after that? My response would have made the cat's look tame by comparison. As a friend once related about how they were parented, "I don't think our parents ever said a word to us about what would happen if we abused an animal or a child younger than us, but we KNEW." Our son knew this was the unspoken consequence and has never been unkind to our cats. I've been known to grab someone else's kid, whose parents subscribed to the un-parenting style, when said child was abusive to their dog. I would have liked to smack the parents first though. They are raising monsters.

Aside from my lack of respect for the majority of elected sociopaths pathologically driven to control how other people live their lives, my sympathy for Ottawa is even less so. As a city at the heart of the tax, borrow, spend, borrow, rule over, buy votes, borrow, silence, borrow, intimidate, borrow, impugn, censor, outsource propaganda and institutional deceit and where stolen taxpayer money sloshes around like a permanent flood, a little inconvenience from people of the productive economy who have had enough of your tyranny is the least you deserve.

Absolutely. The vast majority of those running for office should be disqualified for motive. The second best solution would be single term limits to prevent the inherent conflict of interest of re-election and permanent political class formation.

"Threat to Democracy" and "Insurrection" are the new verbal ticks of the authoritarian left now that they have thoroughly worn out "Racist." But "Democracy" in their lexicon simply means "control by us," and "Insurrection" means "threat to our control."

In reality, history shows that what actually kills functioning democracies is the imposition of dictatorship under the guise of temporary "emergency powers." Fun fact: Everything Hitler did was perfectly legal under the emergency powers granted to him under Article 48 of the Weimar Constitution and the 1933 Enabling Act. And the Enabling Act was passed to combat . . . internal "insurrection."
