The Israelis should know better. Illinois holocaust museum proudly enforced vaccine passports. Never again!

Expand full comment

Yup. They lined up to be injected with an unapproved, experimental concoction produced by the German affiliate of an American company that has been fined billions in criminal fines over the years. Truly bewildering. I imagine Mengele and Goebbels must be snickering over this in Hell.

When I heard the head of the ADL advocating for Jews to turn in their firearms, I know that "never forget" was an empty slogan. They've forgotten everything that has happened to unarmed Jews in the last 5000 years.

I regret that I don't have familiarity with Israeli culture. I was surprised to learn of their compliance regarding History's Deadliest Pandemic™ of The World's Deadliest Virus™, but then again other cultures I do know surprised me as well. The whole thing is mystifying.

Expand full comment

Dumbfounded. But not surprised. We know for sure now nobody looks to history to learn anything about how humans should operate in the here and now. No lessons learned. Just bury the past. Literally.

Expand full comment

Lest we forget. On Remembrance Day we appropriately pay homage and remember the lives lost in war. The rest of the year “lest we forget” is an ironic statement: we always forget. The lesson of history is we don’t learn from history. We learn from war, it is our Alma Mater, it instructs and confirms what is important; precious knowledge dearly paid for and, always, we vow not to forget and then of course we do. The further we get from our mother the more convoluted we become and then the ancient solution re-emerges.

This is unfortunate.

"The lesson of history is we don’t learn from history." Human nature summed up in one brief sentence. Kudos DB.

Expand full comment

Thank you, but maybe it is just weary cynicism.

Expand full comment

I would think that anytime a group of people were rounded up and told to do something the Isrealis would be the first to raise their hand and go "Excuse me, what now?"

Expand full comment

You'd think that, and in the past, it was so. But it seems, not any more.

Of course they're are still plenty of Israelis raising their hands and objecting, pointing out the lessons of history. You won't find them quoted in the popular media or welcomed into the Whitehouse.

Expand full comment

I would call it well placed, reality based, observational cynicism.

Expand full comment

I often say, I wasn't born a cynic, just an observer.

Expand full comment

Weary, yes. But reality is what reality is. Patterns repeat. "trust us to know what is best for you" never turns out well for the majority. It tends to turn out well for the few who get to decide what is best for the rest. It's not cynical, it's simply observation.

If I had been at the door of that museum I hope I would have said that my lack of vax card frankly means to you that I am a diseased and revolting sort of person. Then I may have pointed to the first word in the sign that means anything-holocaust—and ask were these victims not also considered diseased and revolting in some ways? What’s the difference? The holocaust started with such small indignities. As all tyrannical impositions do.

Expand full comment

The holocaust was not the gas chambers. That was all the way at the end. It went on for years before any of that. And, once again, people forget.

Expand full comment

Just the whole idea of rounding people up...of coercing them to do anything, this is a red flag.

Expand full comment

If it was a real pandemic, there would not need to be endless radio/tv ads telling you to get your vaxx. You would get it without coercion.

Expand full comment

Ah but you see "you" are too childish and ignorant to know what's good for you. That's why you need the elites to decide. You can't be trusted!

It is for your own good.

Ok enough sarcasm. To be fair, at the onset of vaccine availability, a LOT of people did line up willingly. We believed that it could work. We had no information at the time regarding the real risks. Mandates didn't come until later - when it became clear the vaccine wasn't working as promised. Which reinforces your point is absolute truth: if it works and has good risk/benefit, people will not need to be forced to use it.

Expand full comment

I didn’t know that much. I just waited to see what happened. I’d had CoV or something by then. I still knew about natural immunity. Never saw the need to vax AT ALL by then. I haven’t even had flu since 1998.

True. Socialists are always so doubtful of the efficiency of the free market, and instinctively trust the "helpful" government and always proclaim everything would be good if only government had MORE power.

I'm a vegan who can't manage the level of perfection of those guys in the grocery store, considered ridiculous (not to mention dangerous and bad) for thinking it might be a good idea to hold off until I know more about what's in it and how it affects people. I suspect a lot of school learning is at a very superficial level. They probably learned enough to ace the tests, but never internalized the lesson enough to apply it to comparable situations years later.

Expand full comment

And what about the people who finally figure out history is a story told by the victors. Then what?

Expand full comment

That is why I always try to find the losers side of history. Harder to do because like you say "The winners write history" and always cover up their atrocities. "Inside the Third Reich", "Special Tasks" and "Bio Hazard" are a good start.

Keep in mind none are 100% accurate but it gives you a look into the mindset of the people. Every evil done in history made sense to the people doing it and going along with it. Very few said "NO" and refused to go along.

Expand full comment

I wouldn't exactly say the Kulaks under Stalin were the victors. Nor would I say the intelligentsia under Pol Pot were the victors. You do realize books like "The Gulag Archipelago" were samizdat, right? "History is a story told by the victors" is just another platitude. Stuff happened. You can read from different perspectives to make sense out of what did happen, but writing it off with bumper sticker slogans is a great way to get a bunch of people killed. Edit: this dismissive attitude toward history is very foolish. How many people that thought the summer of 2020 was some sort of moral "victory" had no idea about Rittenhouse because they thought they, as victors, had the right to censor the raw video? This platitude is just another justification for the self righteous and ignorant to censor, ban, and dismiss reality when it is inconvenient.

Expand full comment

Of course it is a platitude. But Americans (in general) are given one side to every story.

Culpable Israelis need to feel abject shame, disgrace, and guilt BEFORE the State -- via the public's inevitable outcry about their own people being more or less slowly exterminated during the present humanicide -- has its day in court, prosecuting, convicting, and punishing the filthy, murderous criminals, as appropriate.

I hope so but I'm not holding my breath. Not that Bennett was any better but they just re-elected the scumbag Nutty just like Canadians re-elected Trudeau. It turns out you can fool most of the people most of the time.

Expand full comment

Indeed.

Nor do recent Israeli PMs, or right-sided politicians alone, hold a monopoly on heinous duplicity and egregious, breathtakingly incredible corruptibility, no. Case in point, the incumbent State President and longtime Labor leader, Isaac Herzog, earlier this year presented to Albert Bourla, DMV, PhD, Pfizer's CEO and Adolph Eichmann's avatar and legacy extender/exceeder, the "Jewish Nobel": Israel's Genesis Prize, valued at $1 million.

After receiving his award "for his leadership in delivering the Pfizer–BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine," so speedily to Israel's millions of abiding, needy, and now substantially saved vaccinees, Bourla (macabrely and grotesquely -- his parents and older siblings barely escaped the murderous horrors committed by the occupying Nazis in Greece during WW II) "directed the $1 million prize to Holocaust education and the Holocaust Museum of Greece to be built in Thessaloniki," his native town.

A philanthropist at heart, and of a sort, to be sure.

It's enough to make not only Eichmann's spirit, but that of all the attendees at the 1942 Wannsee Conference -- held to obtain the (legally enacted, but most unlawfully comprised) buy-in and ownership among those in attendance, necessary to begin implementation of The Third Reich's Final Solution to "the Jewish question," laid out passionately and determinedly by Adolph Hitler: the ultimate annihilation and sure riddance of Germany's, and later, all of Europe's Jewish population -- blush in Hell.

What a day of reckoning awaits the guilty, not only in Israel, "the [foretold] light unto the nations," but globally, wherever the guilty directed, and against whomever their most wicked, greedy acts murderously befell their countrymen, women, and children.
