jacinda: a kinder, gentler authoritarian boot
the tyranny fan club is an ugly place. when these people tell you who they are, believe them.
meet catherine mckenna. she’s the “Principal, Climate & Nature Solutions; Chair UN Net Zero; Fellow @ColumbiaClimate . Fmr Canadian Climate Minister” and she just cannot find praise effusive enough for departing kiwi queen bee jacinda adern.
and wow, nothing says “so brave” and “woman of the people” like “turning off replies” after making a statement like that.
alas, hardly surprising.
it’s as predictable as “we’re going to need 3 more 5 year plans to recover from the damage from the last 5 year plan.”
these demagogues and dictators love to tell you what you should think.
but they sure never seem to want to hear what you think.
now, one of a more grounded and less nakedly partisan bent might take some issue with some of cathie m’s statements above.
jacinda the kind?
jacinda the inclusive?
well, a cat can only endure so much before he goes looking for receipts…
and here perhaps is a clue as to why ms catherine turned off replies to this...
"more empathetic, inclusive"?
surely you jest.
she literally, overtly, and in those exact words championed creating "2 classes of people with different rights."
quite the new definition, no?
even some priests i know were taking exception…
backing oppressive authoritarians who violate and predicate rights based on pseudoscience and prerogative because they let you and yours wield the whip hand is not kindness nor inclusion.
seriously, what is it with the left mistaking "tyranny of the other side" for "liberty?”
why, it’s almost as if they are so utterly convinced of their own rightness and righteousness that they cannot even conceive that any who would disagree or disapprove of “government by them, for them, for your own good” could possibly be sane, sound, or even permissible.
and the signs for this were, well, to use a technical term: absolutely fricking everywhere.
like here for example.
now, i’m no bookie but i would lay pretty good odds that the track record of people claiming to be "your single source of truth" on being right is pretty abysmal.
it's a 99.9% shibboleth for "what follows is a pack of lies."
jacinda was a dishonest, hectoring, and vicious fascist who loved nothing better than vilifying and putting the boot to those who failed to obey.
i'd be very careful around anyone trying to pass her off as some new breed of high empathy high inclusivity leader.
that's some seriously acute kool-aid poisoning and those drunk on oppressing others are not people you want to be around.
but it is part and parcel to the trans-national cool kids club that wants to scare you into trading your liberty for false promises. small wonder that the arch-climate grifters are also the arch-public health tyrants.
their whole schtick is “we get control, we get to decide, and these ideas are so good that you cannot be allowed to have a choice, they must be mandatory and we will seek to place the ability to stop us outside your view, much less your control.”
the song is “you did it my way” and sinatra this ain’t.
more so than any time since (and possibly including) the 1930’s, the world has become a battle of elites against the rest of us, of “betters who know better” against choice and agency.
daniel cites a wonderful quote from brecht here that lays the choice out starkly.
voting may help, but this will take more than voting. the edifices of technocratic control have grown vast and we must get out from under them and go our own way.
i recently sent this doormat to someone as a gift.
and their cat provides an exemplary response.
her instincts are flawless.
worthy of emulation.
or did you want to try the other way?
