Encouraging a slave to embrace freedom is a tad different from forcing the free to become enslaved.

The irony is that he's trying to call the Delta pilot as a hypocrite. Based, of course, on complete ignorance. Knowing nothing of the pilot, his politics or even his views on the mask mandate a few days ago, this whiner PRESUMED based on a critical remark he MUST BE THE ENEMY! This is how hate-based belief systems destroy, well, everything of value.

Made me think of Red's quotes from "The Shawshank Redemption":

"These walls are funny. First you hate ’em, then you get used to ’em. Enough time passes, you get so you depend on them. That’s institutionalized."

"Forty years I been asking permission to piss. I can’t squeeze a drop without say-so."

Even with permission some people can't take a mask-less breath. Surely in Jerome Adams' case his reliance is all for show, but others truly developed dependency that his act is meant to perpetuate.

Actually, during those 40 years in the desert the enslaved generation died out. After the sin of the spies, God realized that these adults were too set in their ways and wouldn’t be able to shake their slave mentality. Instead, their children— who grew up free— would be the ones to carry forward into the land of Israel. Lesson: For some people there is no hope.

Those still clinging to their security blanket may wish to review the scientific evidence (as opposed to The $cience™) proving that masks:

• do not prevent the spread of COVID

• may cause physical health problems

• may inflict psychological harm

Evidence in point, it seems to me that measures like masks, as well as these wanna-be vaccines function significantly more as a psychological security blanket for people than anything else. The idea that ANYTHING is better than getting covid is inherently the problem. Not to downplay the potential risks of covid on an individual basis (it can be serious) but just because someone else posits some solutions (mask, lockdowns, transfection etc) doesn't mean these alternatives aren't worse. It is blatantly obvious that we're not "all in this together" as these folks readily villified those who chose to stay unvaxxed and eagerly rallied behind those who sought to demonize off-label treatments.

We have endured over two years of relentless, non-stop, omnipresent, "be afraid, be very afraid" propaganda! Proof positive that Goebbels "big lie" theorem is valid. No amount of "scientific evidence" will convince these poor benighted souls that face diapers are not effective. Because it's not about science. Or even disease. It never was. It's about conformity. The need to be seen to be "doing something" The need to be perceived as virtuous.

I don't think framing the situation as a binary choice between true and false is helpful here. It immediately closes minds. I like the idea of asking friends or family how effective masks are. It makes them put numbers to their belief and might re-open their minds on a subject they have considered closed since 2020. Unless they are ready to return to data gathering mode, our data is worthless. I got the idea from Tess Lawrie's recent interview with David Charalambous. We also have to genuinely want to hear their argument or data and respect their interpretation of ours.

Real imposition is getting tackled, shackled and muzzled by police which we have indeed seen. This was a friendly invitation that could have opened a respectful conversation on the matter. The pilot was motivated by love and it took courage to express.

Tess Lawrie put up a great interview with David Charalambous on how to speak in a way that lets those we disagree with re-open their minds to new information. The simplest idea was asking them how effective they think masks are, make them put numbers to their belief. If we just say they don't work the discussion probably ends or becomes a 'do not, do too' shouting match. We also must truly respect their right to decide for themselves and their kids, otherwise we really are trying to impose our preference in a manipulative way.

If anybody knows anything about post traumatic stress disorder do you understand that some people actually become addicted to the dopamine rush that occurs when the trauma is relived . veterans who have been through combat describe great difficulty integrating themselves back into peaceful American civil society. veterans describe the sensation they had in a combat as giving them them meaning and purpose.

People watch scary and suspenseful movies or read novels because it jacks up their dopamine and gives them this “rush”

like any substance or process addiction the behavior and the feelings can be reinforcing..

For millions of people the Covid episode gave their lives purpose and meaning that they felt themselves to be part of some greater movement . They were fulfilling their obligations in some grandiose way by complying and obeying with the mask mandates and getting vaccinated.

Giving up an addiction is a very scary thing. If a person thinks they’re not going to have access to the thing that fulfills their addictive cravings they react sometimes in very immature and unpredictable ways

So we have millions of people who are literally addicted to the dopamine rush that the fear has given them. On some level these people are wondering what they are going to do with themselves after this is all over. What will give their lives meaning ?

Expand full comment

Great points not to mention the added feeling of superiority they get when lording rules and mandates over others. Especially attractive to low self esteem people

Expand full comment

You’re right, of course. But indulging them and treating them like victims (except to the extent we all have been in this psyop) will not help them and will only help the perpetrators of this evil. These addicts need a dose of reality, not pity or enabling. I’m not saying you’re suggesting that, but I find these apologies for the mask addicts and other collaborators ultimately have that effect.

Expand full comment

This attitude is infuriating, because they wrongly equate people encouraging them to drop the imposed self-harm with their own desires to force others to conform (regardless of the harm)

While I wouldn't engage with someone I don't know in public about it, seeing someone chosing to wear a facemask is offensive to me.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I DON'T support people wearing facemasks "if they want to" because to me, it represents ardent support for a most inhuman tyrannical agenda.

You can tell me they are simply scared and brainwashed, but I judge people wearing facemasks like I would someone wearing symbols from other oppressive regimes in history.

Expand full comment

A bunch of covered faces also causes harm to others. Little kids don't learn to read emotions well, etc. Plus people seem less human. It's never healthy when large groups of people seem less human.

The other day I went into a shop. The cashier was still masked. (A bunch of other employees weren't, so evidently she wasn't being forced.) She didn't look at me or anyone even once. That shows a degree of harm, and whether they want to admit it or not, it does affect others.

Expand full comment

One of my first clues 2 yrs ago that something was really wrong was that no one was saying anything about this obvious psychological assault on normal human interactions. If all the supposedly altruistic "health care" officials really cared about us, they would have been suggesting ways to deal with this trauma (as well as stressing other genuinely healthy behaviors, such as exercise, proper nutrition, rest, etc.)

At the age of 62, I instinctively knew how to tell the difference between someone who is trying to help me and someone who is trying to control me.

Apr 21, 2022·edited Apr 21, 2022

No. The tyrant forced vaccines on all such employees During three weeks a few months ago, the unvaccinated were required to wear masks indoors while the vaccinated weren't. Then the requirement to wear masks indoors for everybody was imposed again. (Edited since I remember a few details of past executive orders. With new ones coming out all the time, it's hard to keep track of all the details.) But right now, indoor mask requirements for stores and restaurants are removed for all, vaccinated or not.

I felt the same way when I lived in NYC and would encounter groups of women wearing niqab or burqa. No, I don't have the right to demand they take it off, but as a woman, it feels awful to be surrounded by symbols of ACTUAL subjugation and know that they are wearing it by choice and think this is the way the world should be.

And if you don't think purdah (Islamic dress codes) impacts the psychology of those women in their ability to interact with others, you're as fucking delusional as a mask cultist.

It isn’t unpopular with me. I consider them collaborators in evil, whether they realize it or are willfully blind is irrelevant. They need to know their behavior is not virtuous and is not acceptable. Coddling addicts and reinforcing mental illness (whichever they are suffering from) does no one any favors, least of all the addict or mentally ill person.

Expand full comment

In the circles I associate with here in Israel (where the last official mask mandates were dropped yesterday), very few people have been wearing them for quite a while. I decided that my reaction to the few who are still hooked on them is that if I have to interact with them, I don't look them in the face. I don't know if they get any message from this, but it is much easier for me.

I think that Adams is a shill rather than a useful idiot.
