because this makes me want to hide under the couch.

Please tell me if I am understanding this correctly... The CDC is polling their audience to convince people that they should get vaccinated even if they had recovered from COVID. Polls dictate what people should do. Why didn't we think that before?
What if they genuinely don't know the right answer and are simply trying to crowdsource it?

Is public health dictating policy by polling? Maybe they need to understand science and then communicate that science broadly & clearly.
