I remember a brilliant classmate names Barsky. He had green hair before it was cool, and he had that incisive, gimlet eye for the weak spot. Once, when his opponent referenced, for the third time, the conclusions of a single paper justifying her position, he said,
“Do you anything to offer other than the rhetoric of Rhonda B Hartman?”
The debate ended in that moment. I’ve never forgotten.
