I have an immune system issue for which I occasionally need help from a rheumatologist, a surgeon, and a PCP. The PCP gives me the most headaches, almost literally. His method is to prescribe meds and thus create more (but different! yay?) problems. Most often I fill the Rx, read the insert, and throw the pills away. I'm fortunate in that I have "good" insurance and my out-of-pocket is affordable ($3,000). Last year due to age I was forced onto Medicare (still have secondary insurance), so now I'm figuring out how to weave through a new set of rules.
i had a plethora of health issues about 8 years a go.
i started reading about healthy eating and it led me down a path of health, i went from 6 meds a day to zero in 3 months
arthritis, asthma, diabetes, psoriasis, bad back, bad guts.
the full works restored firstly by going Keto, then i started to dig deeper and now a full carnivore and look and feel 10 years younger than i did 10 years ago
think about doctors and what they do:
do they treat the underlying cause or give you a drug for a symptom and another drug for another symptom?
they are trained from day one by pharma unfortunately
I was poisoned with e coli in 2008, which continues to cause problems. I take some supplements, watch my weight (21.5 BMI), exercise every day (I recommend getting an active dog and a small swimming pool), eat square meals, avoid alcohol and excess sugars (except between Thanksgiving and New Year's, don't want to go overboard).
Sorry to hear that. You might want to look onto the Carnivore diet. So many people with autoimmune diseases have seen great improvement and even complete remission. I will be celebrating my one year anniversary as a carnivore this Sunday. It has eliminated my MeniereтАЩs disease, cut my thyroid antibodies from HashimotoтАЩs in half (and allowed me to reduce my dose of thyroid replacement in half), ended my sleep Apnea so I no longer sleep with a CPAP, and improved my arthritis, reducing the swelling and stiffness in my finger joints, and greatly improved the quality of my sleep.
Thanks for the input. I've done some reading about the carnivore diet. As an aside, my husband & I bought a smoker last fall and I'm the primary cook. I'm having fun and am getting much better results than at first.
I'm in the Suburbs of Baltimore, Jewel of the Patpsco, home of the esteemed Johns Hopkins Hospital. They've just enacted mask mandates for everyone at all medical facilities.
Johns F#@&ing Hopkins. Home of The ScienceтДв.
My PCP's in the GMBC network and they haven't announced yet but it's surely coming.
The concern which you Suzie - may I call you Suzie Crabtree? - rightly identify is that, if our doctors are all the sudden wearing Scrubs and Masks when they used to just wear Regular People Outfits, When They're Lying, and They Know That They're Lying, and We Know That They're Lying, and They Know That We Know That They're Lying And We Know It...
Then how can we really trust them with _any_ other advice they proffer, whether diet and exercise or The Vaxx.
I feel the same way about City Cops in Green Fatigues. You're not in foliage in Nam, dude. If you want to blend in, dress like a Check Cashing Liquor Store or a Dollar General. Dress for the job you have, not the job you wish you had. We're not paying you for that.
You may call me Sue C ;) Yeah, Johns Hopkins threw their prestige away in 2021 by letting an employee post accurate info about the shots, then quickly remove the info from public view because it was apparently accurate. This is sometimes known as lying by omission.
There's another JH Doctor who was on the local morning radio show a couple weeks ago, even as the hosts asked "What about the Hospital's Mask Policy?" and, he would have won the Rory for The Most Proper Fisking of One's Own Employer on Radio While Somehow Confident to Avoid Impunity.
It makes it hard to know who's really in right, who's in charge, who's credible. It's hard to know whether to spend, save, invest, or go a-pillaging.
Back in the 90тАЩs my grandfather was sent to JohnтАЩs Hopkins for his spreading colon cancer. They gave him paid meds and told him to тАШtake them, youтАЩll need them.тАЩ In usual fashion my grandfather called my mom and told him to come pick him up, he wasnтАЩt spending another day in there with those quacks. He went home consulted an expert on Chinese medicine, 3 months later his cancer was completely gone and never returned. He lived another 30yrs. How a man who had a 9th grade education, had such good instincts is puzzling. He also never used a paper map when he traveled, he was a walking Google map.
Masking has been demonstrated to be thoroughly useless for preventing the wearer from contracting or transmitting aerosolized viruses. Worse, they've been destructive.
Young children who didn't see smile on stranger's faces, who have had their speech stunted by not seeing mouths.
Or for any of us - we stopped seeing faces. We're driven by faces. Dogs, not coincidentally, are Master Hooman Face Readers. We walked past one another, no eye contact, no shared humanity.
How many first kisses were thwarted, even when the signals are correctly interpreted, because there's [edit - durned homophones...] a cheap piece for cloth smashing all manner of mouth and nose gunk against one's lips.
I used to work in the Defense Industry in Chem-Bio Defense, literally supported the Aerosol Sciences Team.
I make no claim of Authoritative Expertise, but I knew enough to know that, while long virus chains clinging to aerosolized water vapor particles are bigger than chemical agent particles, which also glom, I was pretty confident that, if even KN95 masks would prevent the transmission of bio agents, no one would have gotten $KaBillion to make carbon-based (not HEPA/particulate) filter JSPGM masks, that are verified to fit a face and properly seal by virtue of what had been the M40 Mask Tester.
TL;DR - I was skeptical. I won't flood this comment with links but suffice to say that, the holes in mask fabric, even N95s, is _much_ larger than the particles.
NOTE that, if the infected aerosol particles were sufficiently large that they could be captured by the mask weave, then Gravity rears its Ugly head and the particles too large to stay airborne for long. They're [edit - dag, another homophobe] not 'aerosolized,' which completely obviates the mask in the first place.
Side anecdote: When the CA wildfires were raging in the summer of (I think) 2021, Masking was all the rage.
I was in the care listening to a Dr. Fauci interview on the radio and the host noted, "Well, it's a good thing we're wearing masks so much with all the smoke in the air." to which Fauci quickly replied, "Oh, no - smoke particles are much too small to be caught by masks!"
You know what kind of particles are even smaller than smoke particles? Freaking aerosolized virus particles!
And even in all their MOPP gear, if the contagion is significantly concentrated in an area, it might be better to just avoid it - IF IT'S REALLY DANGEROUS IF NOT DEADLY, which COVID was mostly not.
This news isn't helping me make decisions about my health care... beyond refusing to take medications that have unknown consequences.
one easy decision, avoid doctors unless its a trauma

Have any of these doctors suggested an elimination diet to heal your immune system?
Of course not. LOL

They threw it out when they accepted funding from Gates foundation.
Sue it is! :)
Yeah, I'm familiar with that leak.

This is not accidental.

My mom said one can educate themselves right out of common sense.

Masking is One Foot in the Grave. Or something.
This was all so obvious.
They just couldn't help themselves. They had been waiting their whole lives to play "video games" with our health and wellbeing

Even if they had efficacy they would they would have to be worn at all times by everyone.
Yup.
