When Dr. John Ioannidis published his 2005 paper, Why Most Published Research Findings Are False, he was not criticized because most scientists knew it to be true. In fact, NIH went on to issue an extensive report a couple years later in which policies were suggested to improve that horrible situation. I dumped all my Big Pharma investments when leaving it in 2005, because the industry was corrupt and unethical. Academic has the same perverse money incentives that caused the problems documented in 2005- expecting a reversal from Big Science is as unlikely as Diane Keaton expecting the Corleone family to go legit.
