What is funny is our electric company wanted us to pay something or the other -- we live on a hydroelectric lake, so not sure what exactly, hubby just told me we owed ---- and they DEMANDED we pay electronically. So, I, of course, sent them a check. I can't wait to find out what they'll do now. Next will be a box of pennies.
Ha ha--these are the little wrenches we throw in the machine when we can. My gym kept deducting payment for services un-rendered thanks to the lockdowns and so we blocked that and a heated email exchange ensued. Very quickly it became clear that I no longer wanted to do business with this company, contract or no contract. After stating this and having it confirmed by email, they tried to insist I send a 15 euro registered letter for administration purposes. We replied: No thanks, we have printed the email in which you acknowledge the receipt of my termination request, that ought to be enough for court. They never used the reply function after that in an effort to cover their tracks. I'd so much rather that we just treat each other respectfully, but might as well have a little fun when that's not an option!
Definitely a superior way to live if you can manage it! Do you just carry around wads of cash for deposits?? At least we are living debt free which is a huge weight off my mind since the government is basically discussing an end to property rights here.
I've done fine without a credit card (26 years) or a cell phone (never). No debt, either. Added bonus: They will have a very hard time finding me.
