I'm no weather expert but we are experiencing a problem with authoritarian windbags.

I have no problem with those who chose to get the jab. Or those who wear a mask ALL the time, nor those who hide at home. But for the love of GOD, please, there are those who do NOT want a jab, NO MANDATORY JAB!

I’ve heard rumors floating around that November 3rd may see some particularly bad weather. I have no first hand knowledge of this, but I’ve seen it mentioned in several different places. So bring an umbrella, or whatever.

I’m living through it. Stuck in CLT. Plane is here, no bad weather anywhere, but no crew. American is paying customers to stay quiet. (Hotel, food, etc.)

Somebody in another comment said it best -- the weather is gonna turn real bad and it's going to affect way more than the airlines.

Have you never heard of micro-climates? The American Airlines micro-climate is actually quite common. Very different from Delta, or JetBlue.

My flight from DFW to SAN was delayed two hours yesterday because no pilots. So it wasn’t a cancellation, but definitely impacted.

I was laying in bed this morning thinking how Biden seems to be steering the ship towards the rocks, then realized the Captain, first mate, and anyone else who could steer the ship was fired off the boat for not taking the vaccine... -Admiral Brandon?

Yes on a FB group I am in, people are stranded in the Dallas airport because American has cancelled their flight from CA to Nashville! Been there for awhile!

Expand full comment

There really were 50 mph winds here in Dallas for two days, where AA has a main hub I think. It was hard to drive a car without getting blown into another lane at times. But I have never seen that lead to thousands of flight cancellations since I have lived here.

Here is their email to me. The writing is horrendous. What a joke!

Hello, XXXXXX

Over the last few days, we proactively canceled flights in order to account for weather in our operation and its impact to our crew members’ flight schedules.

We recognize that you may have been impacted by these adjustments. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and that we weren’t able to provide advance notice about these changes. We want to share more background and our response to ensure smooth travel this upcoming holiday season.

Weather Impact

Late last week, DFW experienced two days with wind gusts of up to 50 mph, which rendered three of five runways unusable, and reduced arrival capacity by more than half. This weather, along with limited staffing due to crew members’ regular schedules being disrupted, drove a large number of cancellations at our largest hub.

We offer the above not as an excuse, but rather in the spirit of transparency. We take seriously our commitment to serve you, and it is our responsibility to take learnings from this past weekend and improve upon our processes. You deserve nothing less, and you have our pledge that we will do just that.

Our Response

To make sure we are taking care of you and providing scheduling certainty for our crews, we adjusted our operation by proactively canceling some flights to minimize any inconvenience as much as possible. Most customers impacted by these changes are being rebooked the same day.

We expect considerable improvement beginning today with some residual impact from the weekend.

We will continue to staff up across our entire operation:

Today, nearly 1,800 flight attendants are returning from leave.

On December 1, the remainder of flight attendants on leave are coming back.

We'll have 600+ new flight attendants on staff by end of December.

We’re continuing to hire additional pilots and team members in Technical Operations, which includes our maintenance team. We anticipate 4,000 new team members will join us across the system in the fourth quarter.

We’ve hired hundreds of Reservations agents over the last several months, so more team members are in place as we head into the holiday season.

If you need any assistance with your travel plans, please reach out to Reservations at 1-800-433-7300 or with our virtual chat assistant on aa.com and on the American Airlines app.

Thank you for the opportunity to share more background on the last few days and to reassure you of our commitment to getting you where you need to go — when you need to be there.

Sincerely,

alison Taylor

Misleading headline: American Airlines are referring to the staffing problems due to the unvaxxed's high susceptibility to the new Ligmapore Variant running loose, motions in Singpore, Russia, UK Teens. The Headline should read:

American Airlines has canceled more than 1,000 flights since Friday, citing staffing problems after "high [passing] winds" [from infected staff who are asymptomatic and cannot smell their own flatulence]

Local reporters are saying that the Unvaccinated are not thought to be affected by this problem for now because their high mucosal immunity developed by exposure to the real virus from high passing winds is causing them to be unable to share space with vaccinated who are increasingly becoming unaware of scents.

The Lingmapore variant is thought to have arrived from Delta. The Unvaccinated are being gently told to get vaccinated using intramuscular injection so that they can lose their mucosal immunity and develop long lived t-cell immunity for enhancement and spread through enteric and nasal passage which the Vaccinated are currently blocking due to their autoimmune disorder.

CDC says It's highly recommended that if you are facing staffing shortages due to increased attrition of unvaccinated who are developing mucosal immunity, they should be asked to get a full vaccine regimen so that they can build tolerance to the harmless ligmapore variant. The death rates are only marginally higher in the vaccinated, but the lifelong immunity to rancid smells and high winds is desirable.
