Congress: Junior High, for millionaire grifters and liars.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Back in my substitute teaching days there was one middle school in particular that I avoided working at. The kids liked to conduct their own fire drills about 10 times a week and administration wasn't really interested in giving any consequences for it. One time I was there they were having a schoolwide assembly where the fire department showed up to talk to them and tell them why they should stop pulling the fire alarms. Now Congress behaves the same way. At least there is a snowball's chance in hell that the kids will eventually grow out of this kind of behavior, but what excuse do the adults have?

They are the ones who did it as children.

Clinical arrested development, but nothing compared to the piles of wet gravel who keep voting them into office.

Call in bomb threats from their office phones? We once had to evacuate the school for 2 hours because a student had taken a bathroom break during class and used their cell phone to call in a bomb threat to the school office. After securing the school the sheriff called the number that the threat had come from and 3 of the students' phones rang at the same time. All 3 phones were checked but none were the culprit. Kid turned themself in a few days later.

Jade, Was Mr Bowman one of your students?

🤣 I doubt it. I'm not that old. Is it 25 or 30 to run for Congress? The high school seniors I had in my first year subbing might be pushing 30 by now, but the fire drill cohort is still well under 25.

I’m hoping the NEA puts a policy in place making it mandatory that children are taught the difference between a doorknob and a fire alarm, since people in Congress can’t figure that out.

Expand full comment

If we could just have cameras in classrooms to catch these bundles of joy and then have stiff consequences then they would learn.

Expand full comment

I agree. But there are cameras in the halls of Congress to capture our elected bundles of joy and there are no consequences.

We are overlorded by morons

Unfortunately, that is an insult to morons. Morons would be too stupid to do much harm. These Congress critters are the worst mix of self-deception, lack of morals, and base cunning that enables them to do immense harm.

Expand full comment

Easy mistake to make. I remember back in high school, I would get the fire alarm confused with a final exam avoidance system.

Expand full comment

Pulling a fire alarm is kinda fitting for these times, afterall the country is burning down. It is just that pouring more fuel on the fire (in the form of cash in this case) isn't going to quell the fire. The congress critter Bowman probably thought he was yelling FIRE in a crowded theater, when in reality it was theater in a crowded fire.

Expand full comment

Well, I guess the House of Repulsisentatives decided pouring more fuel on the fire is the solution afterall. 45 days. Do ya think they will solve the underlying issues in that time? Is there any amount of road left to kick the can down?
