In a way it's a good thing. People view too many others in science as infallible, beyond the normal human proclivities towards self-interest. My latest contact with my new doctor has me feeling somewhat like a piggy bank to be emptied. I have a new perspective on his practice now.
Those in the scientific fields are flesh and blood people, perhaps more highly educated but with the same human flaws and shortcomings as the rest of us.
