Brilliant! 👏

Only one correction: My inside sources tell me BS-24/7 has been circulating since early 2020.

Expand full comment

Actually it's been circulating since the 1980s but it only started identifying as a virus in 2020.

I'd say the conditioning to accept viral bullshit started a great deal earlier.

is viral bs a synonym for mass psychosis formation

Ain't we pretty much learned "viral" can mean anything they want it to mean?

Well, certainly the DOD has been implicated. I think their contracts are mostly DOE. Full disclosure, I retired from there in 1994. I'm not sure what goes on now, but they are full blast wanting to make pits, which are nuclear bomb triggers. They intend to ship plutonium across the southern US to NM on rickety train rails and in trucks. If they don't get us one way, they have others. I'm a member of Concerned Citizens for Nuclear Safety. CCNS challenges them at every turn, actually winning a few cases.

One of my favourite people that I never met was Norman Cousins who died years ago. Among other things, he was a peace activist and acted as an intermediary in the Cuban Missile crisis at the request of President John Kennedy. I first became aware of him when he was played by Ed Asner in a movie based on the book about Mr. Cousins recovering from ALS called Anatomy of an Illness. It was later thought that it was not ALS but a serious collagen illness although his personal doctor disputed that. He and his wife adopted (or perhaps sponsored) a group of girls who were affected by the nuclear bomb drop on Hiroshima/Nagasaki.

Would your organization have known about Mr. Cousins?

I have 2 other books the Mr. Cousins wrote: Head First (the biology of hope) and The Healing Heart. I treasure both.

Expand full comment

I personally know a little about Norman Cousins. The mission statement of CCNS is "to protect all living beings and the environment from the effects of radioactive and other hazardous materials now and in the future." They effect this by publicizing Los Alamos Laboratory plans and filing law suits. It's a very small, but active group. So there isn't a lot of philosophizing as such.

Expand full comment

I'm curious to hear what you know of Mr. Cousins. When the TV movie came about with Ed Asner, I felt it was a gift from God to me as I was facing a difficult issue in my own life at the time. Seeing how Mr. Cousins coped with his illness was an inspiration to me. If you don't mind sharing, I'd love to read it. My strong personal feelings are that we never speak ill of the dead so only share positive news please.

PS: you seem to be involved in a most commendable cause. Thanks. Every bit helps and you never know who you'll have a positive influence on.

A group of employees lost their jobs for refusal to get the jabs. I'm not sure how many there were. NM is a "hang on to the jabs & masks" to the end, however that may come about.

Ah, well, I now always think of it as the Land of Heisenberg. 😆😆😆🤗

I was overly influenced by Breaking Bad. Too bad Chemisty was the only course that dragged down my GPA.

Expand full comment

Are you certain about that Heisenberg statement? My husband (RIP) and I enjoyed Breaking Bad. It got pretty dark. The locations were real. The car wash was one that we used, but the employees were bitter about what the owners did to satisfy the production company. They would not be allowed to work and they didn't get compensation for the forced days off.

Expand full comment

Wow. That’s sad about the car wash.

Honestly, the only time I’ve been to NM as an adult was when I went to an amazing week-long sculpting workshop in the mountains above Taos. Incredibly gorgeous. It was so high I got altitude sickness, and a massive headache, but it was great. Spent a few hours in Santa Fe, just window shopping before I went on to the airport back to California.

Apart from that, I know little about the state. I actually stopped watching BB for a couple of years after the first season or so, it was so depressing. I’ve resumed watching it. It’s very dark, but fascinating nonetheless.

It’s was the “jabs” part of your comment that made Heisenberg pop into my mind. So I make a dumb joke. I do that. Mouth and typing get ahead of my better judgment at times.

I was trying to be funny by referencing the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. I've lived here since 1966. I would love to move, but I'm 81 and the idea overwhelms me, especially after living 50 years in the same house. Where would I move? Not CA, maybe FL - but the hurricanes.... I skied in those mountains.

Akhenaton and monotheism, not popular among the entrenched pries-caste making money hand over fist by selling pre-scribbled funeral-prayer scrolls; justinsert name of deseased.

Yes, they really did that.

A modern equivalent would be like removing the monopoly on taxation.

In my adolescence I read that book (a work of serious but speculative scholarship) positing Moses as an Egyptian and my little Hebrew School-influenced self was burning with rage at such a slanderous lie. I've had a long journey towards an unconstricted sense of the Unknowable.

Really difficult to avoid suspecting that Akhtenaton's ideas were taken and perfected (or imperfected) and run with and here we are. But he never had a chance with that civil service threatened with the loss of holy filthy lucre.

Expand full comment

It's a ....controversial hypothesis, to put it mildly. Sadly, mostly so due to the followers of the god of Abraham (all three schools) being so blinkered as to insist their ideas formed from nothing without any input, inspiration or cultural exchange with any other faith.

To which I'm quite sure El, Mot, Mithra, Sol Invictus, Ba'al Haddad, Anath, Astarte, and (insert a couple of dozen of egyptian deities) would have some choice words to say.

What really put a bee in the bonnet of the priest-caste was Akhenaton confiscating the priests' tax-exempt holdings and assets, to fund his rebuilding and restructuring of the kingdom.

It's been 3 000 years give or take a few, and not much has happened, really.

100%.

When I was overseas I got to read some of the nice little explanatory booklets designed for the English-reading crowd, and in one of them the author insisted *there was no evidence AT ALL!* that "Allah" just meant "The God" and wasn't the very special unique personal name of such. Despite etymologies and related languages 'n such.

We shakes our heads and we just gotta laugh.

Expand full comment

We've got hundreds of thousands of that kind here now. Some of them are third or fourth generation, doesn't speak or read swedish and are almost illiterate in arabic too.

They can't even quote the Koran, only parrot what the local preacher's filled their heads with.

Expand full comment

I suspect our modern world may have already proved successful in doing exactly that. "Democratic" governments, around the world, have insidiously inserted their slimy tentacles into every crevice in of our failing economy. So banks, for example, can choose to freeze the accounts of people who MIGHT offend the regulators; or media can choose to NOT publish absolutely factual reporting that may counter the narrative of the day; or diverse business entities can FIRE thousands of people - for expressing skepticism about an experimental vaccine.

I was taught, (over six decades ago), that there was a word for this blurring of the roles of government and business. Can't recall that word just now....

Expand full comment

Well, you could pick fascism which would also require militarism, romantisation of violence and war, emphasis on loyalty being visibly acted out in manifestations, parades and so on, and a rigid and structured tiered society. Think Plato's Republic since that's the ur-idea of facism.

Or you could call it corporatism/-ivism, which is basically the same as above but with the emphasis more on big business using the state as its enforcer. Think OCP from Robocop, or Tyrell Corp from BladeRunner.

Or if you want more refinement and score some pol-sci hipster points, you could call it synarchism after an old french flavour of fascism that rose as a reaction to the french anarchists of the 19th and early 20th century; it's basically all the power groups of a society working in concert as a united organisation, for their own goals (which, as it is with all political theory, are benevolent...eventually).

Synarchism is one of the ideas underpinning the European Union post-1980s, as it was then clear it was to morph from a trade and business-union into trying to become a sort of United States of Europe, but resembling the USSR more and more for every passing day.

Personally, I'd go for synarchism simply because it's a bit obscure in the anglophone world, and that opens up for questions which means there's a conversation to be had instead of just labelling or nitpicking about whether the moniker fits or not.

(Thanks for providing me with an outlet for my daily pedantry-fix! :) )

Expand full comment

You are in fine form sir! Well stated.

Going to borrow your first sentence to try, (again), to clarify "fascism" for some of the hangers-on in the OFC*. And introduce "synarchism', which should, as you suggest, provide openings for much future discussion.

* Members of the OFC, (Old Farts Club), congregate most Saturday mornings at the local coffee shop. This venerable group of retired business people, pilots, ranchers, teachers, (and our token lawyer), solve the worlds problems, bitch about the government, and tell each other lies.
