One might wonder if she was high enough to be on the list of people that government paid to push the vaccines. I would certainly be fearful of having my name on that list with what we're seeing happening in the world today.

i doubt it.

Bad Cat, I suspect the list of those who willingly took pay to push the government narrative no matter the actual evidence is quite a lengthy one.

This bribe brought to you by Pfizer.

Exactly. This is typical leftist journalist behavior. She knew there would be a feeding frenzy of her peers should she not join in the hate.

That being said, the Biden admin via the CARES act did send millions to these publications.

My BF, a crew head on a major bway hit show was down here when broadway closed. His assistant living in NYC told him this. At first we assumed that he was just shooting off his mouth but it was confirmed by others in the business- stagehands, technical directors, general managers, etc who my BF knows very well, having worked on Broadway for around 40 years.

My BFтАЩs producer hired an entire new layer of management- a diversity PhD to train everyone in racial sensitivity, a natural hair person because тАЬthe history of America can be told by studying black hair,тАЭ a musical director who was тАЬsensitiveтАЭ (the main music director apparently offended one of the actresses by telling her how he wanted the music sung), an extra choreographer for POC cast and 2 Covid officers who needed their own office (they displaced the PSM). And then the highly paid interns of color to redress historic imbalances.

When the show finally opened with that bloated payroll, an audience too frightened to attend and weeks of missed performances every time someone tested positive, it shut down for good. No surprise there

Thanks for the backstory. I hope we can secure an accounting at the source -- one way or another.

Well, of course I donтАЩt have the accounting ledger so this is probably not the тАЬdocumentationтАЭ you were hoping for but itтАЩs the best I can do.

On another related front, we have a friend who owns a small 3 unit apartment building in the Bronx. You remember what the Feds did with private contracts between landlords and tenants? I own two houses down here and thank god, my tenants paid their rent during the pandemic but my friendтАЩs did not. He did get the money eventually paid in full- FROM THE GOVERNMENT!!!!

I know people who could have paid their rent but didnтАЩt because the government said they didnтАЩt have to and the tax payers covered them. This makes my blood boil. The government did not interfere between banks and mortgagees. If you rented an apartment in NY, you got free space but if you owned a co-op or a condo, you still had to pay your mortgage and maintenance. If you were a landlord now with no income, you still had to pay your insurance and property taxes!

How dare they!!!

Lots of people at all different levels and from many different officials were given $ to promote the shots. Even a local health dept officer would have $ in the budget from the fed govt to use at their own discretion to "reduce hesitancy".

There's a much darker motivation that can be hard to attribute to individuals but shouldn't be dismissed: the desire to be superior, to have a group of "untermenschen" to persecute and exercise power over. I think some of those people loved that aspect. I think maybe a lot of them did. Maybe Emily, too.

She describes herself on Twitter as "unapologetically data-driven." She's certainly got the "unapologetic" part right, but she had to be disregarding a hell of a lot of data to have been such a devoted Covidian.

Having spent a considerable amount of time around journalists and academics, you are correct. Most are unbelievably arrogant and view all who are not them as lesser. I'm certain this played a part in their behavior during Covid mandates. I suspect they received a great sense of joy lording over the little people on Twitter.

Yes. We also need to know more of the 'they' as in who were the social media influencers, podcasters, academics, MD's, celebrities, athletes, 'journalists', etc. who were literally paid out of DHS or wherever to push this stuff? This should be subject of a FOIA - it was taxpayer $ pissed away for propaganda. They should be exposed so they can get proper amnesty. :P

NOW we're talking... Don't waste time chasing down individual recipients; submit a FOIA and find out how ALL the money was disbursed. I hope that's possible.

Why did Oster write the article?

Why did The Atlantic publish it?

Why did she use the world amnesty instead of forgiveness?

She's clearly writing on behalf of a group not just herself.

It wasn't a confession. It was a scold.

Not a word of regret or contrition.

She, like the other Covidians, will never ask for forgiveness because they don't want to be forgiven. They want to do it all over again. I honestly believe these people genuinely don't the pandemic to go away. In many ways, the Covid pandemic makes them who they are.

I believe that they have no remorse whatsoever for their stance. Some of them, however, are very sorry to be caught in the wrong and possibly face consequences. But in all likelihood nothing will happen to them. A few of the lower tier may be chosen to fall on their swords for the cameras, but the vast majority - meh. The higher up they are, the more responsible for this nightmare, the greater their hubris. This begging for amnesty is mostly pre-election jitters and terror over Twitter. I just wonder who is giving the orders for it.

This is why we, at our own local levels, need to shame individuals we know who behaved so awfully. Whether done publicly or privately, they need to feel the sting when we tell them they can never be trusted, ever again.
