This is the sort of thing that makes it abundantly clear this is not remotely about public health or safety. It’s about the wielding of raw power.

Fugedaboudit's avatar

“Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.” O'Brien, from George Orwell's 1984.

This needs to be a t-shirt. Or a bumper sticker. Like-minded folks need to be able to find each other and see that we actually are the majority. Not the minority the MSM would have us believe.

IvyRose's avatar

LOL be careful you may be a target for a poison dart wearing that

Satan's Doorknob's avatar

We may be a slight minority. But if it's any consolation, consider that probably most successful revolutions began with a tiny fraction of the population.

Kitsune, Maskless Crusader.'s avatar

Now I know it is easy for me to say this as I am thousands of miles away in Japan, but we better get about doing something pretty quick. Economies the world over have been torpedoed. Not much time left keep them from going under. More importantly and of more immediate concern, our kids are going to get vaccinated very soon. Not much point in doing anything after that.

CMCM's avatar

I somehow feel that there are more of us than even we realize. I keep meeting people and there are sometimes very subtle clues that we're on the same page, opening the way for dialog. Example: I was in Whole Foods, and asked when a particular product would be in stock. The store manager came over and mentioned how difficult it was to get items reliably in stock. Then he said "Do you know why?" And I said with disgust, "It has to be the supply chain fiasco and ships stacked up in the harbor in L.A." So that little interchange opened the door and we had a nice discussion about a lot of things. His level of frustration and anger as a major store manager was hard for him to contain. People are mad, and getting more easily vocal about it.

Tarn - mutual eye-rolling's avatar

I find that if I take off my mask upon exiting a shop it is an opportunity to say to anyone unmasked nearby " I am so glad to take that mask off."

Then the conversation develops.

CMCM's avatar

And continuing with the above....and on a more depressing level....he mentioned how many people who shopped that store were utterly CLUELESS about the supply problems and the causes. Unbelievably uninformed people, and more than likely very far on the left. Stage one thinkers. Probably another clue to him was that I was not wearing a mask uniform, unlike many others in this store.

How insightful of George!!

Satan's Doorknob's avatar

Of the several books Orwell wrote, I've read most. 1984 and Animal Farm are or should be required reading. As one who has studied Literature, I can speak with a little authority 🧐: you would be amazed how much worldly wisdom (truth) is disguised as fiction, whether it is fantasy fables from 3000 years ago or modern political novels.

Ron Dellaguardia's avatar

How was George Orwell 1984 able to see so clearly into the future?

Winston Smith's avatar

He observed human nature - that nature is the same today - history repeats, because that's human nature. I was just expressing the same about Joost Meerloo https://escapingmasspsychosis.substack.com/p/meerloo-explains-menticide

Satan's Doorknob's avatar

And unlike most of us, he lived in the early part of the 20th century when some of the largest scale "experiments" in totalitarianism were in full flower: especially the bloodiest, most ruthless period of the Soviet Union, as well as the awful tumult of World War II, the Nazis the worst but the Allies too (perhaps excused by the sacrifices of war time.) Orwell was also early on a radical: Witness his participation in the Spanish Civil War.

Winston Smith's avatar

agreed. And also the reason why Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn should be required reading as well - he was there in the fire as well as having an incredibly sharp mind to articulate everything to warn us.

Katie Andraski's avatar

I bet he read the signs of his times and saw the seeds. I also think that imagination is very powerful and it self might be a prophetic agency.

Another one I just read:

Oregon school district fired unvaxxed teachers. So of course they are scrambling to fill spots.

So, they are trying to hire/ bring back RETIRED vaxxed teachers.

Hmmmmm ok so you fired young healthy teachers to bring in the elderly?

It's like so dumb. So dumb.

marty s's avatar

Lololololololol I had the best crack up today with your post 🤣🤣🤣

Zade's avatar

I'm thinking the old teachers want nothing to do with this

Satan's Doorknob's avatar

I suspect that if the unvaxxed who are fired can survive long enough (easier said than done, I realize, since loss of income has many adverse effects upon one's lifestyle...) that many of them will be called back, probably at salaries higher than before they were purged. If not, if governments continue to go full retard, we are that much closer to a serious societal breakdown.

Formerly_Known_As_Someone's avatar

They may have to do other work til it’s all over, but there are jobs out there, and online. Also, if fired, it may be possible to work freelance or through an agency at the same job in some cases. The faux mandate only covers employees.

CMCM's avatar

I think this as well. Things have to get really bad before they relent on the vaccines. It's a real game of chicken at the moment, however.

It's no better here in the US. Just when I thought Maine's gov was getting smart, she made vac mandatory for hospital workers.

Central Maine docs are refusing & suing.

BigT's avatar

Good. This is what must happen everywhere. And every other hospital worker should say if you fire one of us, we all walk. No one would get fired.

Kitsune, Maskless Crusader.'s avatar

Problem is, many hospital employees are for the mandates.

Hidden Markov Respecter's avatar

These morons follow their playbook like good Stepford wives, but overall, I'm continually struck by how intellectually vapid and inferior they are. My grandfather was a WW2 vet, lied about his age to go fight fascists, was willing to sacrifice his life for liberty and now most of society has just given it away for nothing. Nothing! For the fear of a bad flu.

It’s disgusting. How do we fight back and reclaim our basic rights?

Kitsune, Maskless Crusader.'s avatar

They will always have theirs. But yes, they already have everything a person could possibly hope for, so why destroy it for everyone else? Several possibilities come to mind. One is that despite having every material want satisfied, what they lack is complete control over others. Sure that motivates some of these sickos.

marty s's avatar

They use anyone and everyone as a prop🤡🤡

Zade's avatar

"Home of the Brave'"..."Heroes Work Here", those signs meant something once. I know nurses who were the only real comfort for covid patients stuck in the ICU here. They were heroes, back when everyone was wiping groceries with Clorox. Now we're over it and the ones who faced risk like none of the rest of us are kicked out like bums because they don't want to fodder for a global experiment. How do they stand it?

Grumpy Canadian's avatar

Can they be any more Moronic? Seriously, on top of the fact that the stupid jab doesn't prevent transmission making this whole thing ridiculous in the first place, almost all health care workers have now been vaccinated more than 8 months ago. So, according to the HUGE Swedish study recently released, they are all now technically "unvaccinated again". In fact negative vaccinated! So better fire every single one. Who needs health care workers anyway.

marty s's avatar

😂😂😂😂 great point! These people will always remain "not fully vaccinated" in perpetuity

it'll be in the toothpaste, the coffee, the milk, whatever...

Satan's Doorknob's avatar

There may be some helpful irony there: as hundreds of millions of people who trusted the system and got both shots early on, eventually discover that whatever protection they got lasted half a year and now they're being required to get boosters, will at least become aware they got temporary protection but at a cost of potentially serious side effects near and long term. There is a lot of "buyer's remorse" there that at the least, will manifest in increased distrust of the vaxx-pushers.

CMCM's avatar

They are currently attempting to hide a rising tide of vax reactions and problems as well as the fact that their lauded vaccines don't work for long, if at all, but I have to think they can only get away with this for a limited time longer. Things have to to get so bad that they can no longer hide it any more, and then people will finally know more of the truth. I like to think they have built a house of cards with all their obfuscation and lies and everything will at some point fall off a cliff. The question is, how bad will it have to get?

marty s's avatar

Good point! Either they'll have buyer's remorse or they just put themselves in I never ending booster cycle.

marty s's avatar

Member when one key reason for lockdowns was to keep hospitals from being overwhelmed?? They never, ever cared about that 😜

You silly kitten - don't you realise those "unvaccinated" health workers could kill thousands without the spike protein floating around in them and the proper papers! Because Science.

Winston Smith's avatar

...oh, and the term "unvaccinated" is like categorising me as an unwoman, or an undiabetic, maybe even an unsocialist (as if being a socialist is the natural state, so to be unsocialist is somehow unnatural - worthy of degrading my humanity to the category of an untermensch)

Jocelyn S's avatar

I think you misspelled $cience.

Winston Smith's avatar

You are correct - my error. It's either $cience or Fauci - both mean the same thing don't they?

fau.ci | fau-chi

1. a) Alternative word for "science"

b) The conflicting and nonsensical messaging of "science" when the "science" does not agree with reality

c) A high priest of the 21st Century religion know as Covidism who operates out of, but not for, the United States of America.

d) A unit of length, equivalent to 6 feet (not a fixed length, however, and may change regardless of "science")

Jocelyn S's avatar

I love it! Although I think we should put an alternate spelling: “faux chi.” Especially since our “high priest“ has sucked the vital energy out of our society, economy, and in some cases, people’s minds.

Winston Smith's avatar

Perfect! - the spelling, not the high priest.

Jestre's avatar

These health care workers are more likely than the general population to have natural immunity. Not that "the science" matters.

Lori's avatar

OK, good. Remember, pay cash for the meds at the compounding pharmacy. If you go through insurance, they will flag the pharmacy. the doc i got my ivermec through got a letter from blue cross blue shield telling him he was rxing too much ivermec bc his patients were putting it thru insurance. if you or any more BC folks need help, just hollar.

Melamorph's avatar

* if desperate! I'll keep you posted if I need help thank you! 🙏😊

Robert's avatar

I'm here too, recently disemployed. It's raining, look to your Vitamin D levels, don't ask for a serum level, as that was delisted by MSP a few years ago.

The medical colleges have threatened their members with dismemberment if they even think Ivermectin or Hydroxychloroquine.

No easy way to get meds here. Note that the deaths and illness in the "Unvaxxed" include those within 2 weeks of their Covid injections, so you will not be able to separate the "vaccine"-injured from the unclean. My best guess is that ~90% of the morbidity is injection -related, as we really should not have much respiratory virus in B.C. from May until Thanksgiving.

I'd be really interested to find out now that the superspreaders have been banished to their leper colonies, if the hospital's patient infection rates do a Singapore. I bet they'd blame it on the unvaccinated patients again. Maybe, they can setup another hospital for Unvaccinated patients cared for by unvaccinated Healthcare workers? Problem solved. The vaxxed can have their Singapore in British Columbia Party?

There are 3 guys living under a bridge in Scotland that are unvaxxed. They are responsible for most the 8000 daily cases.

Zade's avatar

Where I live they gave JJ vax to the homeless in the shelters early on. Maybe back in April when some people were still fighting for a place in line. They gave them the one shot deal because they're hard to find at times. No idea how most of them fared but I'm guessing not all that well.

IvyRose's avatar

Are they even caring enough to document results? probably not. all they care about is whether that cow got a dose.

Zade's avatar

That's a good question. These poor guys often end up dead because of alcoholism and drug abuse. Certainly that would be blamed before the vaccine. I think their vaccinations must be recorded by the county board of health but not sure of that. I know some of these men and the next time I see one I'm going to ask.

IvyRose's avatar

I agree with you. I know they would never point to the vax as an issue, covid maybe, but only if they were unvaxxed. it always the unvaxxed fault.

Melamorph's avatar

I'd be uo for that...can do an experiment even. Have the unvaxxed hospital with unvaxxed medical staff , early treatment clinic, handing out early treatment protocol. It wouldn't be very busy though as all the patients who had early treatment wouldnt need the hospital!!

Does any of these people read their own lines? How can they not see how wrong this is? It is ALL about getting vaccinated with something from which no one knows exactly what is in it. Except money, of course. I just read the numbers for Pfizer. Of course they want to hurry everyone to get the jabs, as many as possible, before the bottom drops out. And this time, there will be no law suits to worry about, because the governments have signed off on these. I suppose one can not even turn to the government fund when damaged. Only 1 % gets it that far anyway. And now they come for the children. No not the halloween ghosts. Much worse.

Satan's Doorknob's avatar

I wonder if Pfizer, Moderna et al. have considered what a large negative outcome with the mRNA COVID-19 "vaccines" would do to their future market for other mRNA products?

BC resident here. This Dix character is a serial forger, he forged documents in a former government role, and resigned in disgrace. Then he ran a disastrous campaign for Premier of BC, losing spectacularly. He has an axe to grind, and is a career unapologetic socialist.

This release of 4,000 health care workers is across the spectrum, though doctors are technically private professionals. Any doctors not jabbed will lose hospital privileges.

But this means nurses, all health practitioners in hospitals, support staff (kitchen, maintenance, etc) long term care help as well. This is a boneheaded decision by a socialist government that claims to put “health care first”. Of course, if you have Covid, there is no primary care, that’s how important it is.

BC is on a maniacal roll to attempt to jab 100% f the population. So far, 86% of adults have presented themselves for poisoning, the latest group, being extorted into the jab, or lose your job and livelihoods. We remain vigilant. My wife is retiring early to avoid the poison punch. Those government bastards will be met with severe prejudice if they enter our property.

Sure, right now their rules restrict what we can do, the only bad one is being jailed in our country without escape, but as the vaxxes deteriorate, and more people get sick and die, not just from Covid, but from the blood ailments and auto-immune disease, BH Bitch will have no more cutesy answers to smile her way through. This gives me hope. All the Doctors, Nurses and Healthcare workers that are refusing the vax are the ones that view the body as sacred. They know the damage that pharmaceuticals do and know that they were working in a sickness industry. I resigned two months ago after 30 years within that system. It’s broken, we need something that gets to the root of disease, rather than taking a pill to treat the symptoms of it. A lot of the resigned/sacked are online chatting with each other about where to take healthcare from here. Many are retraining in natural therapies, homeopapathy, nutrition, herbs etc. There are modalities like SCENAR and energy and frequency healing too. This is the way of the future. People are going to leave pharmaceuticals behind and more and more people don’t trust their doctors. Why would you, when all they seem to be, is a pimp for the drug companies? People are waking up to ALL the broken systems like politics, banking, housing market etc. These structures and the low density people that work for them are on their way out

I’m so excited for the future!

A nearly identical over the counter product is about $5-10. Guess which one I purchased. I'm amazed this is legal. And it's not the first time it's happened to me.

Don't you see, Gatito, that it might be better to see this as a controlled burn rather than burning down the entire house? It's both for the greater good and for the good of the unclean. It's all out of love, really, that's all there is to it...the purest (purr-est?) of motivations

N95 masks might be in short supply again after December 8th. 3M has a vaccine mandate. Some of them put together this YouTube to tell you how they feel about this mandate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dg4SUwpPVGQ

CMCM's avatar

I especially like the line "When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty."

MeMyselfandI's avatar

The health minister is naive if he really believes that this will motivate people to take it. The mandates are only making people more determined to not take the vaccine - all this pressure makes zero sense when you have a vaccine that many don't respond to, and when many in the population have acquired immunity already. They aren't even trying to pretend it's about health or they'd be ignoring those who have antibodies from recovering - instead they're forcing the vaccine when that's not even a guarantee of immunity.

Anonymous Dr's avatar

Just more evidence this whole COVID thing has nothing to do with our health at all...Yet some are incredibly still unaware of all of this...*stumbles off shaking head*

The Wiltster's avatar

Here is where I am struggling, and maybe you guys can help me understand. My confusion is with the scale of the response, not in Oz or other backwaters, but in *most* parts of the West. In response to not acquiescing to being vaccinated, people are being, basically, inconvenienced. (Certainly, losing one's job is far beyond an inconvenience, but stay with me here!) Mostly, it is stuff like, "you cannot go to concerts" or "you have to shop in a different type of store" or "certain restaurants will not allow you" and the like. If there was legitimate danger in being unvaccinated, would not the response be uniformly like that in Oz? Does not this not being the case illustrate that this whole dance about increasing profits for Pfizer, et.al. versus saving mankind? I do not have a larger point to make, but am hoping to be corrected for the error(s) in my thinking!

Danm's avatar

Want to go to an outdoor Oregon Ducks game, vaccination required.

Mandatory indoor Jury Duty in Lane County or the City of Eugene, no vaccination required. Outdoor 2-3 hour football game dangerous, indoor 8 hour jury duty with strangers not dangerous.

BigT's avatar

It’s much more than increasing profits for Big Pharma. They’re just one of the players. And, I think we’ll see the pressure ratcheted up, soon. “No Social Security check unless you’re vaccinated!” and “No unemployment check until you get the shots.”

Phoebe's avatar

The "no unemployment checks" part is already being implemented in some parts of the USA. New York's governor said no unemployment checks for people fired because of refusal to get jabbed. In my state, there's been no official pronouncement, but healthcare workers I know have faced the same no-jab-no-check because they've supposedly been fired "for cause." The ones who resigned rather than be fired are also ineligible because you can't collect if you've quit. So it's more than "inconvience." It's persecution.

BigT's avatar

Anyone fired for not getting vaccinated has a valid lawsuit as getting vaccinated was not part of their original employment agreement. People under an employer mandate, or expecting one is coming soon, need to get moving. Here is a site for a packet of forms and instructions to get going NOW: https://www.freedomrescue.info/index.php#!/Healthcare-Worker-Mandate-Survival-Kit/p/397543031/category=0 (I hate to link to non-free stuff, but I couldn’t find a free version.)

Zade's avatar

So here in the US the bastards put you on leave so you can't say you're fired, and unemployment is out.

Margaret Anna Alice's avatar

I have been in private correspondence with one of my readers, who is facing potential termination for refusing to submit. This employer, which is threatening to fire employees with the full knowledge that the unemployment safety net has been withdrawn for dissenters, put together a luncheon to draw attention to the plight of the homeless. The obliviousness to their role in *creating* the very problem they are purporting to help is too much irony to bear.

BigT's avatar

So sorry to hear. In these situations, everywhere, the solution is mass resistance. Tough to accomplish in a created state of fear.

Margaret Anna Alice's avatar

I agree completely, BigT, and have encouraged him to find fellow workers to band together with. He emailed me today to say he met with colleagues who share his feelings, and he felt very optimistic after that. He has submitted a religious exemption, but if that fails, he and his compatriots have discussed starting their own venture together. It is inspiring to see them coming together and supporting each other in this time of desperate need.

Anonymous Dr's avatar

Exactly! And I don't at all depend on this, but I get a military retirement payment each month, which I expect will be cut off any day now. Am amazed they haven't gone after this before now. And I don't depend on those payments but lots of folks do. Am wondering why they have not done this yet. Do they expect vets to make much fuss, or to get in line? Am not sure what they are thinking. Certainly they've considered this...

Zade's avatar

I'm waiting to hear that the US federal govt is tying welfare to getting vaxxed. So far no one's gone there.

Satan's Doorknob's avatar

Two doses of "vaccine" per year cost someone about $80. If you do the math, that is a relatively trivial amount even if an entire population gets the jabs. A few companies profit, but even there, it is only a portion of income. This is not primarily about money and greed.

CMCM's avatar

Yes...it can't be about the money, not really. It has all been so coordinated everywhere around the globe pretty much all at once, and you have to start focusing on which people are positioned at the head of this. Sometimes it all seems like a rather amorphous group that is rapidly coalescing as one mind, but who are the main orchestrators of all this?

Maria Romana's avatar

Wow, that's a great point that I hadn't thought about. If there's danger at a concert, there's danger at the grocery store, so why not lock us out of everything...if it's really about public health.

Margaret Anna Alice's avatar

It knows when you are eating … it knows when you are shopping … it knows when it’s past curfew … so wear masks for goodness’ sake!

CMCM's avatar

If it's really so dangerous and really about public health, I'd like an explanation for why selected groups are exempt: illegal aliens, postal workers, congress, and some others.

marty s's avatar

Good point 👍 at the beginning I used to think what is this thing about essential versus non-essential jobs? If it's dangerous, wouldn't it be dangerous for everyone? And then they followed with certain types of gatherings were safe but not other types of gatherings🥱

The Wiltster's avatar

The essential versus non-essential thing never made a morsel of sense. The essential workers are out in the wild, ostensibly risking life and limb, so I can receive all the B.S. I order on Amazon? It never passed the smell test, and now, things are worse.

CMCM's avatar

I guess they are just trying out different techniques for breaking the will of everyone.

One of the most unsettling aspects of the "mandates" for jabs at least in USA is simple: In many cases they are being "mandated" with no legal authority, at least, the requirement that they be imposed. Local governments and private corporations are "voluntarily" complying with a "guideline" from somewhere. This is very similar to last summer's (and a more recent announcement) from out Federal Government requesting that big media cancel those who spread "misinformation." Witness Berenson's cancelling from Twitter. Absolutely no legal requirement they do so; it was 100% jumping when Big Brother says "jump."

CMCM's avatar

Increasingly, they are trampling on the entire concept of legality. They just ignore it, and no one seriously challenges them so they get bolder and bolder. Look at JB's actions the last 10 months, ignoring laws and the Constitution in almost everything he does. People grumble, but haven't yet fought back hard enough.

BPKitten's avatar

I'm saying more like the last 50 years... :(

CMCM's avatar

This really began in the 1950's (read what David Horowitz writes about it all), and then the 60's radicals after that. The 60's Marxists realized they wouldn't be elected to anything, so they took a different route and embedded themselves in education and other areas where they could subtly and slowly introduce the mind and attitude changes they desired. One example of this is Bill Ayers, the 1960's terrorist who escaped prosecution and became a professor at U of Illinois and who greatly influenced Obama as well as so many other young minds during his decades there.

And then look at the tweet that the Premier of BC posted this morning… you can’t make this shit up!

Anonymous Dr's avatar

Wait, he had an issue found and is getting surgery on it the next day? Don't Canadians generally have to wait in line for medical care? Is this an example of some animals being more equal than others?

Ckexploration's avatar

Apparently he’s a a client of Copeman healthcare, a private concierge healthcare. And I guess because he’s the Premier, everything is possible. Different for us peasants though.

Anonymous Dr's avatar

Ah gotcha. We are having a midlevel (NPs and PAs) takeover of medicine here in the US. This has been coming for quite some time; a 2-tier system, one for the "haves" (physicians) and one for the "have-nots" (midlevels). But now I think I was wrong. It WILL be 2-tier, but it'll be all the healthcare practitioners of every stripe who toe the Party line, to take care of their own, and the untermensch practitioners of every stripe (if allowed to practice at all) taking care of our own. I could not see prior presidents outlawing the private practice of medicine (such as Cuba has done) but I can definitely see the Brandon Admin doing this...

Maria Romana's avatar

Probably due to his now-failing immune system, thanks to the vax!

Urbacka's avatar

It would be like kneeling before Zod at this point. Being afraid of losing your job and losing your job are different to experience. Sometimes the fear is greater than when it happens. Worrying about getting laid off or fired is a time frame you are frozen in acting, but when the termination happens, a lot of times people actually feel a little relieved at first and then can do something about their situation. I hope that is the case for many of those.

million's avatar

turns out it was the *northern* border that should've been left wide open

imagine a surplus of trained health care workers with natural immunity

Satan's Doorknob's avatar

Does anyone find it amusing that there are many travel restrictions in place with the stated goal of keeping out a virus that is (1) extremely contagious; (2) that even the "vaccinated" can spread unknowingly; and perhaps most absurdly (3) is already endemic in nearly all parts of the world?

timmy100's avatar

Imagine going to a specific brand car dealership. You have read news about the sales personnel there refusing to drive that brand of cars, even as a free work benefit.

You ask, "How about we go for a test drive?"

A salesman replies back, "Are you fucking kidding me?! Hell no! I'd rather lose my job. Here are the keys, you go ahead. Good luck!"

Then he runs back to the window office.

Zade's avatar

Maybe that's part of the plan. Another way to kill off useless eaters.

Nathan's avatar

A part of this tragedy is that BC was doing great in 2020, with the best outcomes in North America for any region that actually had to deal with the virus. They managed to control spread in medical facilities and didn’t ventilate everyone to death. They had some localized lockdowns but nothing like Quebec and eventually Ontario.

Alas, they didn’t learn the right lesson from their success, which is that Covid is not that bad if your medical system is that good. They fed their fear off the bad outcomes elsewhere, and when the shots came along they lined up for them. Oddly enough, Covid outcomes have been worse ever since.

In one way we’re lucky that our medical system is so bad in Quebec, they’ve had to push back the vaccine mandate for health workers a month already because it was obvious it would bring about a total collapse. The government is looking weak for the first time since this started and some people are finally pushing back.
