new US biodefense plans cross the line from fabulism into insanity
all the wrong lessons have been learned
at a certain point, playing make believe becomes deadly dangerous.
and THIS, mis amigos, is WAY over that line.
this is flat out inversion of every lesson learned in the last 100 years to say nothing of the last 3.
lots to unpack here so let’s take it from the top:
these goals are madness.
there is no way to have a test in 12 hours and have even a remote idea of whether or how it works. simply none. you will not know what it measures, what it misses, what confuses or confounds it, or any shred of specificity or sensitivity.
to even have a pathogen characterized this rapidly is all but impossible (unless you’re starting with one you already knew about because you made it yourself…) the early stories of “heroic work at NIH to characterize corona in record time” have always smelled fishier than a bait shack dumpster.
and then we want to not only have a vaccine but have produced enough for 330 million people in 130 days?
no way. not only is this also impossible (it took more like a year even after the sudden and mysterious appearance of this mRNA tech at NIH and bioNtech and longer still for “variants) but this is WAY too brief to allow for even rudimentary clinical testing.
let’s be impossibly generous and claim you can create a vaccine candidate in a month. then let’s similarly claim that you can produce all the vaxx in one further month. you’ve eaten 60 days. this is so wildly unrealistic as to beggar belief, but even so, you have 70 days left for the trial.
you need to test safety. that alone will take a month even for just a small number of healthy normals and you’ll have such a short safety tail that it will be meaningless. you will not see any rare side effects or issues that take more than a week or two to manifest. that’s outright reckless to the point of severe malpractice. on this point alone, the whole issue ought be over.
then you need to test actual efficacy. you need to enroll 10’s of thousands of patients to get a meaningful signal. and you only have 40 days to do this, see how many get sick, follow up, collate and assess the data, read it out, and give the FDA enough time to assess it. so, um, no. just on brevity of exposure period, you could never do this.
the headlong rush to covid vaccines had clear head starts and took more than twice this long and still got literally everything wrong.
it did not stop spread, it was not low risk, it had such poor risk/reward as to make no sense for most people, and it drove antigenic fixation that actively enabled later variants making the jabbed more, not less susceptible by multiples of 4 and 5 even despite having “boosters” that the original sales pitch swore you would not need.
it drove the worst side effect profile of any vaccine in history possibly eclipsing all other US vaccines in since records have been kept combined.
this is just like the h1n1 vaccines and every other rushed vaccine. they never work and the side effects wind up awful. at least back then, they had the decency to pull them off the market when they failed.
now they just stop testing them and move the new approvals to “mouse data” and “biomarkers” like antibody production despite having no idea if those antibodies are even useful in stopping disease.
and i’ll wager that’s the plan here.
they want vast vaccine factories paid for by government grants and contracts ready to pump out untested products (using problematic modalities like mRNA) that have no remotely acceptable clinical safety or efficacy data. that is the only possible way to hit timelines like that (other than lying and having tests and vaxxes ready because you already knew what the virus was going to be).
this is not biodefense. this is a pandemic puppetshow to cover another grand grift for pharma cronies and vast power grabs by the federal government.
A senior administration official said the US is preparing for an era of pandemics, in which the nation must detect, prevent, and respond to the increased risk of biological threats. Some objectives outlined in the new strategy may take years to accomplish.
The US is already grappling with Covid-19, monkeypox, polio and, most recently, an outbreak of Ebola in Uganda. But other threats are expected to emerge within the next 25 years because of climate change, urbanization, and global travel, according to the official, who asked not to be named as the details of the plan weren’t yet public.
this is just more naked fearmongering for nonsense ideas.
monkeypox. polio. ebola. i mean
these are not real threats. they are grumpkins and snarks being conjured to terrify the townfolk into once more trading liberty for false safety.
and they are ripping out ALL the safeguards:
To avoid agency infighting and inefficiency, the revised strategy will more clearly outline which parts of the government are charged with certain responsibilities, like re-purposing old drugs against new viruses within 100 days, determining the origins of unknown pathogens, or partnering with local health authorities.
The White House has placed itself in charge of coordinating the inter-agency effort to combat biological threats, which could affect not just humans, but also animals, crops and the environment. Though the Department of Health and Human Services will continue to play a pivotal role in the response, the new strategy elevates the responsibilities of the Department of Homeland Security, among others.
this is the centralization of all power and decision. the next “emergency” will be a dictatorship. watch them run roughshod over states next time.
THAT is the lesson they learned.
and oh how the money rolls in. this is just the next firehose of crony capital to keep the revenue lines at pharma topped up now that no one wants their covid jabs anymore… (not that it stopped the feds from buying 177 million bivalent vaxxes that no one will ever use and many countries will not even approve)
The Biden administration argues there’s an urgent need for sustained investment. “The COVID-19 pandemic reminds us that the issue is not if, but when, the next biological incident will occur,” the new strategy states. The White House requested $88.2 billion in mandatory funding for biodefense purposes in its 2023 budget, to be made available over five years.
every single aspect and learning being incorporated into this new policy is inverted.
they got the covid vaccines wildly wrong by rushing them to market. and what they learned is “rush faster.”
they took unprecedented dictatorial control of big aspects of american life and ravaged american lives and livelihoods for absolutely no positive gains and what they learned is “we need more and more streamlined power.”
they spent insane sums on testing and drug regimes that failed over and over and likely made matters worse, and they learned “more of the same but bigger and faster next time.”
and most of all, they learned that if they scare you enough, there is nothing that we the people will not surrender.
and so we must learn also.
we must learn that this “authority” is neither acceptable nor accountable.
left in place, it will run amok.
it seeks to run amok.
there are no “better or smarter people next time” only perverse incentives and a naked will to power and profit working in terrible synchrony to enrich cronies and empower statist encroachment by mongering fear that they may peddle illusory safety.
these agencies, acts, and emergency power must be removed.
people respond to incentives in predictable ways.
and so these are simply not incentives that we may leave lying around.
if this does not change then lurching from crisis to crisis as pretext for dictators and demagogues shall become the new normal.
and having had a taste, does anyone seriously want any more?
The vaccines that they will produce will be fake.
But the viruses will be real.
“I don’t know what you mean by ‘glory’,” Alice said.
Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. “Of course you don’t—till I tell you. I meant ‘there’s a nice knock-down argument for you!’ ”
“But ‘glory’ doesn’t mean “a nice knock-down argument,’” Alice objected.
“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.”
“The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.”
“The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master—that’s all.”
