Presumably, these doctors and nurses have pretty much seen it all when it comes to covid. They were front line at some of the worst of the pandemic for NY. And yet, there are those who STILL don’t to vaccinate, for whatever reasons they have. How can anyone disrespect their opinions at this point is beyond me.

Northeast has a tough road ahead. Seasonality. Waning vaccine timing with the pending season. And NY has decided to level up with this bonehead move. And it will lead to death, but the unvaccinated and pandemic will take the hit, not poor leadership.
If you're a hospital admin or stock holder (hello BlackRock and Vanguard) and you've always longed to be able to bring in foreign workers at half the price, this is a big win. They are already prepping the work visas.

Love the blog, great analysis, crunching data, witty, and cat theme is big plus, buuut... unless I'm missing subtle sarcasm w ol gato i can't believe that anyone seriously thinks that this latest system crash isn't the intended result. Why bother to cavil at the 'stupidity' when the better and obvious explanation is these power mad people want and need these crises to hold and expand their control? We've seen these people do exactly the opposite of established practice over and over. Can we just accept that things like crashing the medical system, enhancing the virus' spread and lethality, destroying the economy, flooding the country w millions of poor disease ridden people etc... is intended to create a failed state where totalitarian government is the only option?
the problem is not the government. the regulators are following orders, as they always do. the politicians are doing what they think the people want. the problem is the people are frightened of the disease and they believe these are vaccines in the traditional sense. i see people carefully putting on masks in restaurants to walk to the bathroom. and making their kids do this too. it seems like the more educated people are more frightened and more inclined to follow rules without question
WHo wants to bet that in a few months time we will find out that:
a) half those staff went and got the shot cuz needed the money. they were coerced. Bullied. But that will continue cuz they always give in...
b) half those staff were replaced by foreign workers brought in from India, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Israel, etc., on special visas and that some of them were illegal immigrants who agreed to be vaccinated to get the job and get a corporate sponsor for their visa/green card. American workers will be displaced by this. The governor knows it. Doesnt care. This is actually good news for the governor.

Has anybody told Gov. Who that these are not sterilizing vaccines? These mandates are assuming that the vaccines prevent transmission. It's like they believe in magic words and if you call something a"vaccine" it magically becomes one.
Considering that somehow these unvaccinated healthcare workers managed to stay alive and not present dangers to their patients all of last year during the first peak of the illness, it's hard to understand how only now do they present a danger. Well, no, it's not hard to understand. The mandates obviously have little to do with health and almost everything to do with politics.
The refusal to grant unemployment benefits is a particularly nasty political touch.
