"By today's standards, King George III was a very mild tyrant indeed. He taxed his American colonists at a rate of only pennies per annum. His actual impact on their personal lives was trivial. He had arbitrary power over them in law and in principle but in fact it was seldom exercised. If you compare his rule with that of today's U.S. Government, you have to wonder why we celebrate our independence."
Meh, it was terrible for the colonies. It had to have been to try to throw off the biggest, most strong empire in the world. The audacity! I am forever grateful. Go peep the Declaration of Independence. I am sure you did thru school, but as an adult. The King was not a mild tyrant.
Raise all federal revenue with a national sales tax like Fair Tax. Get rid of the IRS and its soon to be armed goon squads. And cut the gov't down to size by getting rid of most of it. Around 1800, the government had three 'cabinet level' departments: War, Treasury and State. They were also far less powerful and intrusive than they are today. Wouldn't it be nice to return to those 'good old days' before Abe Lincoln torpedoed the idea of states' rights.
I hear you, but the shackles of the Articles led to the chains of the Constitution, which has been a dead letter since Lincoln destroyed the voluntary union.
I don't even like the WORD "ruler." ;) But maybe we could try something like a committee. I don't know, but I do know people like leaders. I'm not sure how things would work without SOME leadership. It seems natural to me. But I'm totally okay with hearing all kinds of ideas.
SOON to be armed? They've been armed for a while... But, yeah, baby. Articles of Confederation! And like the comment above, END THE (EFFING) FED! What we need that is hard to have with centralized power in a whole big country is ACCOUNTABILITY... There's nothing like a bunch of angry citizens literally IN YOUR FACE.
They make sure that you can't get in their face. School boards -- local and therefore as accountable as you will ever get -- holding secret meetings, hiring security to make sure no terrorists, er I mean angry parents, can get in. Telling the parents that they have no right to any say about what their kids are taught. Power corrupts -- Lord Acton.
I'm actually less concerned about the 'rulers' than the millions of minions the government manages to assemble. Part of it is empire building, but much of it is evil and one way or the other, has to go. Trump was on the right track with 'get rid of the deep state' but he had no idea how big it was. 'Yuuge!'
Yeah. But I think we can find out without having to pay a dime, and I NEVER use Amazon, that is anathema! No offense to you, tho... I think I initially found out about the income tax fraud by watching a documentary about it on Youtube, years ago now. I forget the name of the guy who made it, but he was IN the documentary as himself, interviewing various govt. types, and getting kicked out of everybody's office, LOL. I can't find it, but maybe this one's good... I'm going to watch it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLt9VmxKVik
Thanks to Bezos you can get damn year anything in a short amount of time. Do you have any idea how much efficiency on a societal level this creates?
His AWS has created an environment that has made it far easier to do a tech startup than before. Why don't you look up how many businesses that has started. It is astounding.
Something must be up ... when I viewed that post, twitter is actually showing me posts below it about vaccine harms and about the Netherlands uprising. Censorship is mysteriously slipping for some reason??
I loved that he loved Jelly Belly Jelly Beans. Seems like sooo very many people, when they "grow up," think it's beneath them to eat candy they ate and loved as children. It made him seem real.
I can see that. I've gotten sick on food a couple of times, but it was because it tasted fine, but had gone bad. I've been able to eat it again after a while away from it, though.
Yeah, pretty much everything goes downhill once you turn 12 or so. 😉😊😋
Well living in the Netherlands makes that tough, but the Dutch farmers organized the first weekday protest today in honor of their American comrades in arms. Attendance wasn’t as great as we hoped, but they got unexpected support from fishermen and horse riders. On the heels of doctors demonstrating, rail staff and airport staff striking. Ain’t no body happy in this country except for the vaccine salesmen.
"The moral tragedy that has befallen Americans is our belief that it is okay for government to forcibly use one American to serve the purposes of another - that in my book is a working definition of slavery."
~ Walter Williams
Slavery was reimposed in the United States in 1913.
The income tax and Federal Reserve nationalized slavery and made it universal.
They are the greatest engines of mass theft in the history of mankind.
The average American works over three months exclusively for the government masters. For many of us, myself included, it exceeds six months.
If we are ever to get our republic and our freedoms back, we need a Constitutional Amendment that repeals the 16th Amendment and forever forbids all government from reimposing income taxes, for any purpose whatsoever, in perpetuity.
Forgive me, I couldn’t resist posting this excerpt from Silent Cal’s wonderful speech commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence:
“About the Declaration, there is a finality that is exceedingly restful. It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning cannot be applied to this great charter.
If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction cannot lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers.”
The Gettysburg Address? Lincoln is the one who destroyed America, more than 0bama or Brandon, who are just finishing up the work he started. (And I'm not talking about "freeing the slaves" either.)
Freedom, Responsibility, and Liberty...the three most terrifying words in America today.
Baby, mommy, family, daddy, church.. Make it stop!!!
Make what stop?
Happy Independence Day, fellow gatovians.

Repeal the 16th Amendment.
End the Fed.
Starve the beast, liberty will follow.

Abolish the federal government.
It is the greatest threat to everyone's liberty and prosperity.
Everywhere.
Maybe abolish, but... .maybe severely curtail its power... ?

I hear you, but the shackles of the Articles led to the chains of the Constitution, which has been a dead letter since Lincoln destroyed the voluntary union.
The experiment has failed, time for a new one.
No more rulers.
I don't even like the WORD "ruler." ;) But maybe we could try something like a committee. I don't know, but I do know people like leaders. I'm not sure how things would work without SOME leadership. It seems natural to me. But I'm totally okay with hearing all kinds of ideas.

Leaders, like economies, are emergent properties.
Centralized control only impedes effectiveness.

Libertate! Missed ya man...on the most important day!
Happy Fourth my friend!
Cheers! Here's a toast to you Fellow Freedom Fighter!
Hear, Hear! (But the 16th was never actually ratified.) And how 'bout those Articles of Confederation, eh? ^_^

Yea, I'm no fan of Bezos, but the benefits of what he created far exceed the downside of his politics.
????? What freakin' benefits????
Are you joking?
Thanks to Bezos you can get damn year anything in a short amount of time. Do you have any idea how much efficiency on a societal level this creates?
His AWS has created an environment that has made it far easier to do a tech startup than before. Why don't you look up how many businesses that has started. It is astounding.
There is an upside and downside to everything.
True knowledge is knowing both.
M'erica!
F' Yeah!
Now that's a polymath with cojones! The only way it could be better is if he had a sidecar with Ben Franklin in it!

Shoot. I canceled my Twitter account like 6 months ago...
Ryan, You don't have to have an account to view through the link. I don't have one, and I can see it.
It's WELL worth seeing!
Let me see if I can om my computer. It won't let me on my phone.
It just keeps going to a page that says "reactivate" your account.
I dont trust those scoundrels.
I'll figure it out
I'm sorry! It goes right away on my phone. It's an Android. Please say yours is not a fruit product.

Something must be up ... when I viewed that post, twitter is actually showing me posts below it about vaccine harms and about the Netherlands uprising. Censorship is mysteriously slipping for some reason??
I saw those also, and was kinda surprised.

That's more like a gatito bueno comment. 😉😋
😂
"Well, there you go again " - Ronald Reagan 🤣🤣🤣
Here's my favorite Reagan quip:
"You can tell alot about a man's character by his way of eating jellybeans"
And I hate jellybeans!...:]
I loved that he loved Jelly Belly Jelly Beans. Seems like sooo very many people, when they "grow up," think it's beneath them to eat candy they ate and loved as children. It made him seem real.
Agree. But that's why I hate them now. I made myself sick on them from eating too much one day when I was a kid.
Everything's been downhill since then...:)
Shame, shame! Bad boy! 😉😊😋
I can see that. I've gotten sick on food a couple of times, but it was because it tasted fine, but had gone bad. I've been able to eat it again after a while away from it, though.
Yeah, pretty much everything goes downhill once you turn 12 or so. 😉😊😋
Take care, and don't eat too much. 😉😋
🤣🤣🥳
thank you
Do you have a link of this?
It's awesome. Enjoy:

Thank you! Happy Independence Day
Blow some shit up!

I saw a video of a massive protest by farmers in the Netherlands because they are being squeezed by crazy climate policy.
I was cheering along and sharing!
💪🏻
Thx a lot for that. Ah, the good ole days! Totally forgot about them.
I blared in my car with my 11 year old twins.
We were rocking out. They loved it...mom, not so much...;]]
Thank-you! That's great! They could have played that on Headbangers Ball.
You mean, "It's got a good beat, and you can dance to it?" (American Bandstand)
🤘🏼
A republic if you can keep it!
A republic if you will keep it!
can is obvious!
I've already rewarded this post with a "heart". Is there any way Substack can add an animated fireworks display as a reward option?
And maybe a little real estate between the post button and the cancel button?!
No bueno for failing eyesight and fat thumbs!
Help a brother...
Happy independence day.
Let's take our liberty back!
AMEN!!!!!
This is the way. 😂 🤩 💥
Individuality, honor & decency are a couple more
Link please! To that guy barbecuing! I need to get the blueprints!
Hahaha. Nice!

Independence Day! Happy Birthday America!
I love this crazy country. I don't want to live anywhere else. The land and waters are in my blood.
Ain't no scuurdy cats here! You gotta fight for your right to paaaaarty!
Heal, love and protect the USA! Happy 4th!
Today is the birthday of Calvin Coolidge, the last president who believed in the Constitution and not the welfare state.
Forgive me, I couldn’t resist posting this excerpt from Silent Cal’s wonderful speech commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence:
“About the Declaration, there is a finality that is exceedingly restful. What a great speech! Reagan hung a portrait of Coolidge in the Oval Office when he was President.
👍 If an American can read this or the Gettysburg Address without 😭 a little, I just…don’t know what to say. 🤷♂️
The Gettysburg Address? Lincoln is the one who destroyed America, more than 0bama or Brandon, who are just finishing up the work he started. (And I'm not talking about "freeing the slaves" either.)
Thank you for sharing that. Nost excellent and new to me. Much appreciated.
YES!
