Completely agree. Unfortunately, it's a lot easier to just hand wave that "the data has changed" or ignore reality when you have a compliant corporate media that acts as propagandists rather than actual journalists.
I don't wanna seem sus, and am not necessarily looking for specifics, but do we have a notion of what bad cattitude does/did for a living and what general region of the world he's in?
I have it on good authority that he lives in northern Greenland, is the finest nerf herder in the arctic, and wields one hell of an oosik keeping black clad tyrants, charlatans and idiots at bay.
What cat, with any hint of self respect would live in Greenland? My cat (May he RIP) wouldn’t have been caught dead in that degree of cold. I think he would have given me the “look”, hopped a freighter and sent me a pic on the beach in Rio.
Frankly, I've often wondered this too; however, posts like this, as well as his having been spot on regarding just about everything, speak much more to his integrity, credibility, and trustworthiness than any credentialism ever could, and that's good enough for me.
In some ways, it makes it easy to evaluate the arguments and claims being made moreso on their own merits, and leave them less prone to ad hominem dismissal
I get that, but I do think the doxing problem, or the potential for it, far outweighs my need to know in this instance. Would say the same for others like TES and those cats (pun intended, of course).
It doesn't work like that. You publish another piece to educate people on why your so called error is actually the scientific way to do math. And call anyone who opposes it Anti Science
Wait a minute. I thought science and data these days was about doubling down on what you were wrong about then calling everyone who disagrees a conspiracy theorist.
It's partly just the nature of being a dissident - powerful forces looking to discredit whatever people in this space come up with, and I imagine the readership around here is generally skeptical and suspicious of everything, and will jump ship real quick if they feel they're being manipulated.
First time I've ever seen a cat apologize for anything.
It's a kitten. Kittens are allowed to apologise. Cats are a different matter.
lol! Indeed.
It's a trans cat.
Au contraire, trans means never having to say you're sorry. 😉
This only enhances your credibility.
I came here to say the same thing -- health "authorities" would do well to learn from such example
Understatement of the last two years!
Completely agree. Unfortunately, it's a lot easier to just hand wave that "the data has changed" or ignore reality when you have a compliant corporate media that acts as propagandists rather than actual journalists.
Yeah, CNN he's not. The NY Times he's not.
The entirety of the alphabet legacy media he's NOT.
Agree

I'm honestly just curious.
please do not ask doxxy sort of questions.
I have it on good authority that he lives in northern Greenland, is the finest nerf herder in the arctic, and wields one hell of an oosik keeping black clad tyrants, charlatans and idiots at bay.
"Oosik", now that's a word you don't see enough in casual conversation.
Argumentum ad baculum, literally so.
What cat, with any hint of self respect would live in Greenland? My cat (May he RIP) wouldn’t have been caught dead in that degree of cold. I think he would have given me the “look”, hopped a freighter and sent me a pic on the beach in Rio.
I just looked up Oosik 🤭

I certainly would not presume to speak for an internet feline, but for pseudonymous ancients such as myself, this pretty much sums it up:

Obviously a cat, so besides taking naps and basking in general contempt for humanity, there's not much else to know I reckon
He has said in prior posts that he lives in Puerto Rico.
See prior comment of mine about Rio. I rest my case.
Bingo, Bingo, and bingo!!!!

indeed, this is the New Science.
Séance.
I think you mean “$cience”
Add a like, button not workin.
Too bad I didn't have you as my advisor in school. I'd have passed math with flying colors.
And ban anyone who brings up a question
Aww the sweet smell of integrity. Way to set an example for other purveyors of data and analysis.
that ears-flat-on-the-head move that cats can do is SO expressive! ... I wish we could move our ears!
Very young kitten ears are just like that which makes them even more adorable!
My current feline companion had ears like a chihuahua when he was a kitten. He's since grown into them and they're very handsome ears indeed.
Hilarious! Don't you wish WE could attach photos?!
If you're talking about the photo of the kitten above, that's a Scottish fold. Their ears 'naturally' develop that way.
Otherwise, yes, it's amazing how mobile cats' ears are!
Thanks. Was wondering what breed.
thanks! I was! - I have SO much to learn about cats! - (A cat I had could almost get them that flat)
Yes I can just picture my ears flat on my head hissing if ever in room with old Tony. Know-what-I-mean?
Wait a minute. I thought science and data these days was about doubling down on what you were wrong about then calling everyone who disagrees a conspiracy theorist.
Thanks!! we all fuck things up from time to time. It’s rare when people admit it.
"we all fuck things up from time to time."
Pfizer: "Like sorry, man... bummer y'know..."
They must be really, REALLY high to get that low.
Don't trust him! He's a cat. He's fixin to knock something off the counter.
that was a good intuition.

LOL!
Only man who never made a mistake is the man who never did anything!
Yep. A friend of mine had a saying expressing the same idea: "If you never made an error, you haven't played baseball". 🙂
My Father used to say: "If it still surprises you, you don't have it mastered!"
My saying is "If you can't find a new way to screw it all up, you are finally starting to get it all nailed down."
This makes you even more trustworthy in my eyes
good for you!
Everyone I trust is eager to correct errors they have made, because they are passionately searching for truth. Being “right” isn’t a consideration.

It happens, thanks for the notice.
Your prompt actions increase your integrity.
More power to you.
Mike
What, publically admit an error and rework?
This raises my already high estimation of you
I sometimes don't understand the science and stats, but I look for other signs .. do I trust the source?
I did NOT TRUST GATES. A depopulation guy with a needle?
That’s why we have litter boxes, Gato.
