I thought it was rather insightful that the chosen spokespersons for the "science" are a bartender who's hobbies include incoherence and hyperbole, and a 12 year old child. Between them they have one undergraduate degree in a non-science discipline and a couple science fair medals. When these are the "experts" who, apparently, are driving public policy, what could possibly go wrong?
That's unfair. If you research AOC's record, she graduated with top honors (granted, not in very difficult specializations). I am absolutely certain that her race, sex and ethnicity have absolutely nothing to do with her position, any more than it did with Vice President Harris or proposed Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. These ladies were doubtless chosen strictly by merit, by proofs of education or achievement, and that each represents only the highest qualifications in their respective fields. 🤣
"These ladies were doubtless chosen strictly by merit,"
(notices their 5th column against "meritocracy"; Sam Harris inviting a guest on in 2020 for the purpose of testing those waters (and perhaps making Sam himself look a little 'sus'))
I acknowledge. I must clarify: I meant no disrespect for bartenders. Bartenders are critical keepers of the peace and essential to my personal mental health. Nor would I disrespect someone who takes such a job. Again, respect for the position, if not always the person filling it ;-).
May I add JK Rowling. She's been battling this for a couple of years, ever since she dashed her reader's puerile hopes that you could magically change sex...
Is there anything about 'Hogwarts' that is real? I love fantasy and while I was a bit old for Rowling I gave them to my kids to read. At no point (this was the pre internet 90's) did they ever think the books objectively 'real'. The new fandom seems to dictate that the line between real life and fantasy must be blurred to the point of non existence since now you can live in your phone with a bunch of other people that have the same mental illness.
Comedy seems to fallen under the general intolerance that has dominated the entertainment industry overall. My own experience with the music bidness is that, if you do not conform to the narrow set of views on The Party approved list you have 3 choices to survive:
1. Keep your views to yourself;
2. Call it country (move to Nashville)
3. Parrot the correct line
Option 1 is the most popular. Option 2 is gaining popularity daily: Country fans seem to tolerate almost anything so long as you have a steel guitar track. Guns, god and girls are still fair in country. Option 3 is proving harder and harder to do, as the bandwagon can change direction on a dime lately.
Supporting outlets that dare to allow intellectual diversity is a good thing.
The book Windswept House -- a fictionalized version of what may or may not be going on in the Vatican-- has a number of Luciferians as characters. It is not Lucifer's goal to be worshipped; instead, it is his goal to have the worship of God replaced by the worship of man.
It's a long book written 30 years ago, but is actually terrifyingly relevant today.
Thank you for the recommendation. Went straight to Kindle to find:
"This title is not currently available for purchase" on it's product page. Still shows a synopsis, product details and reviews. Simply cannot be purchased. So I went to see about a physical hardcopy. Used, priced between $42-$200, new between $70-$85. None sold by Amazon themselves, all 3rd party sellers.
I found it at a very large used bookstore for a reasonable price. Right now, there is a used copy on ebay for around $27. I know it's a lot for a used book but it's well worth it. You can also read it for free here:

I have known at least two persons in my life, socially or at work, who later turned out to have committed fraud or similar crimes of deception. One in the thousands, the other literally in the millions of dollars. Both were caught and went to prison for their crimes. But my point? I knew these people reasonably well over a period of many years. They seemed like positive people. I never suspected they had a dark side. Although I think of myself as quite intelligent and somewhat of a skeptic, I admit that I'm not a very good judge of character.
Yeah, if you want to see a CRT neophytes head explode ask them if they belong to the American race. lf so, how do they explain their American privilege related to military and economic hegemony... you know that privilege that allows them to exploit wage slave labor in the global South for their cool sneakers, clothes, and consumer items. If they deny their American race, I ask them how many generations they're allowed to go back to identify with their chosen race. If going back a few generations they find multiple ancestral races, I ask them how did they know which race to identify with? As the confusion sets in, I ask about skin color and whether that always identifies one's cultural heritage and/or ethnicity and or identity. Finally I ask, what race do you think I am? at this point nobody will say "White." then I usually get a quiet inquiry... as they are genuinely curious that I might have a racial identity beyond White. I explain that first and foremost I'm American. Then I explain that I am of Irish and Slavic ancestry, and that both ethnic groups were severely oppressed and exploited at various times in recent history.
John Cleese recently had his mic taken out of his hand onstage at South x Southwest. He said as an Englishman, he demands reparations from the Italians for the 400 years of slavery the Romans submitted the British Isles to. And from the French as well, for the 40 years of slavery at the hands of the Normans.
Thanks for that bit of travail. When are they going to rebuild Hadrian's wall? I noticed it was beginning to need some repair and some Scots were leaking out.
Humor is just one way to counteract these bad faith efforts to control conversation. Most here probably know this, but James Lindsay's New Discourses is a great source of information on this topic. I agree that engaging with these folks on their terms isn't likely to be successful, but "knowing your enemy" presents options in addition to mockery towards resisting this existential threat to civilization.
Having young adult and teen children presents a challenge. It calls for nuance and logic and calm discourse rather than mockery. Mockery is the perfect way to send kids into the welcoming arms of the woke. We need to use every weapon in our arsenal, but we need to tailor the message to the audience.
100% accurate!! As the mother of a college (19) and high school (17) kids, these last 2 years have been emotionally and mentally draining. The college kid almost got the jabs last year. It was hell to address the dangers of the jabs, to try to share evidence from Israel, UK, and all the excellent analysis by Gato Malo, Euggypius, and the good doctors (McCullough, Kory, Malone, etc.). All she cared about was that all her jabbed friends are "okay". UGH!! We're in wokeland (Oregon) where masks mandates were lifted just last week. SMH. She's the only one in my home who still buys into the masks show respect and consideration, blah blah blah. I HAD TO let go and ease up on the lecturing. It was truly backfiring by driving a horrible wedge between us. And I needed her to TRUST me. So to keep the lines of communication open, I bit my tongue and stopped sharing weekly updates on vax injuries, etc. Oddly enough, she started backing down the minute I (heartbroken and in tears) told her that I would accompany her to get the shots in case she had a severe reaction at the pharmacy. Because no one would care for her if she dropped unconscious on the floor. THAT made her pause, thank GOD. As more data on vax injuries and the negative VE comes out, she's finally given up and we're now talking about doing the non-medical exemption for college. Fortunately, my high school kid (track athlete) is clear in that he doesn't want them. However, he's vulnerable because of his track aspirations. IF college teams stop accepting unvaxxed athletes, would he submit to the clotshots? The jury is still out. He still has 1 more year til graduation. By then, I will have scouted colleges out of state that do not mandate the toxic jabs, if Oregon doesn't budge. My husband and I are more than willing and ready to move if the midterm elections don't dissolve the Dems supermajority. Our young adults and teens are their TOP TARGET, unfortunately. Gotta keep fighting the agenda.
Truly agonizing for parents trying to protect their kids from this evil clot shot. My 22 year old hasn’t gotten it, yet, but explodes every time I bring up the subject (I’m admittedly obsessed). His latest comment was “you’re still fine after getting it”! I would not say “I’m fine”, true that I’m not dead, or maimed (yet) and I regret (and repent) taking the pfizer death jabs last December 2020. I went against my gut and took it along with my co-workers as we worked in a nursing home. I had a horrible response to the 2nd jab and vowed to never take another shot of any type ever again. Instant antivaxxer from then on. Somehow I’m still working despite refusing the boost. I figure it’s a matter of time though. And I’m accepting that fate since the medical field has completely lost my trust and respect. I can’t even look at doctors the same. It’s revolting to think after 2 years of arbitrary policies these dicta continue to follow along despite the obvious harms.
I thought docs were smart🤷♀️
Anyway, our kids do have the right to decide for themselves however, if/when they become incapacitated post shot there’s no going back.
On the point of your losing faith in doctors...when I told my GP I wasn’t vaccinated because there was no long term data on this new technology, she told me (with a straight face)that mRNA vaccines have been used in veterinary medicine for 100 years. 100 YEARS! I couldn’t trust her after that. She was either stupid and believed that, or she was lying to try to convince me to get it. Either way, I could never see her again.
People keep singing the praises of a school named Hillsdale College in terms of its sanity. It doesn't require the vaccine, and given that it doesn't accept government money, it is able to be independent. I checked the website (https://www.hillsdalechargers.com/sports/mtrack/index) and it offers track.
We need more parents like you determined to save their kids from being coerced, manipulated, and mandated into taking non-sterilizing gene therapy with unknown risk and efficacy for an endemic respiratory virus to which they are at statistically zero (or close to) risk of serious illness or death.
My 4 sons are 20-28. Boy 1 is just finishing his PhD in physics, Boy 3 is in the midst of his PhD in physics. I learned that no matter what evidence I provided, in their view I just seemed crazier and crazier. False news comes from every direction, why should they believe mine? False data, false peer reviewed studies, there are insane fringe scientists in every field...even at the prestigious institutions they attend. They (themselves) are so brilliant and isn't it so sad their parents just don't have the ability to "get it". So while they delayed, they eventually drank the Kool aid, got the shots, sing the praises. Boy 2 and Boy 4, their RN dad and his RN partner have not and will not.
There is unbelievable social pressure in academia. And Tik Tok. And Reddit. Not only regarding covid but surrounding gender and racial issues as well. It's not new. I heard it proposed as an explanation years ago. I do admit to having been skeptical that the scammers are that sophisticated though. Or maybe it was just happy coincidence (for them).
Spot on, those who do not subscribe to concept of reason and logic can not be persuaded by the same. All that is left is to make fun of their ignorance.
Well if climate is a social construct like gender, we can each decide the climate is what we feel it is. So just like gender where there aren’t just two, there are genders innumerable, we can have as many climates as we like. My transclimate is warm and pleasant and quite stable so no need for Net Zero. yah weather potato had me ROFL...so genius!
To be fair, I think there are a lot of 12 year olds who's grasp of the physics behind the planet's weather exceeds AoC's by a significant margin. ;-)
Wonderful, albeit not a flattering, mix of metonymy and metaphor (I think). Perhaps the Puberty Fairy will bestow her blessings upon Greta.
The absurdity is pawpable.
a tawdry tail.
The irony is purrfectly gatostrophic!
If we could get them to paws, even for a moment.
