yes, there's definitely something to that especially as he is also entering the paid longform content space. it's not censorship for CBS to not promote NBC on air. it's sort of a shame that they are coming into conflict and that they will not be useful interlocking spheres for mutual promotion and longer, but that's the nature of competitive markets. sometimes interests diverge.
Well, I was kicked off of Twitter for supposed "hateful conduct" for saying that trans people were just regular people who have become mentally sick with lies, and I don't think we should remain silent while Mulvaney is paraded about as the pride of our culture. No violent threats, no cursing, no slandering, yet I was told to delete the offensive tweet if I wanted back on. Elon may have good intentions but his employees are still acting like activists; and until he places handpicked people, devoted to free speech, in the appeals department, only the high profile accounts will be safe.
I kind of doubt that criticisms of trans ideology would bother Musk, considering that his son, who wants to be seen as a girl, has publicly disowned him. No, I think Musk is simply not aware of what's going on; or if he is, he's having a hard time reining it in. If he were smart (heh, heh), he'd at least move the appeals team out of SF and set them up in Texas where he might find people who understand what free speech is. I did like how he handled the BBC recently.
I think the nature of the forum is different enough that there is plenty of room in the market for both. He allows cross-posting from many other sites, so why not let users do the same with this one? That's just part of the nature of social media. The users determine the content, unless the site specifies that it will be heavily curated. Users value maximum transparency about such things. Back when the MSM news shows were heavily promoting Twitter, before Elon bought it, I began to suspect that it was being curated by the same group of political actors. Now that they are regularly trashing it, it's pretty clear that's no longer the case. I hope Musk comes to see that Substack is not an enemy, but a potential ally against the forces of censorship hounding him.
I was under the impression that Musk reinstated the ability to link to substack or stopped blocking it or...within a few days of the uproar.
I opened a twitter account when Steve Kirsch was reinstated and asked us to follow him. I never tweeted. I deleted my twitter account soon thereafter when I heard that Elon was rebranding twitter the 'X Corp.'. That's supposed to be the 'everything-app' like the Chinese WeChat. Although I'm not at all familiar with WeChat, I think it does a lot of things including give users a social credit score. Along with CBDC's, which are already being trialed (look at the WEF's Project Icebreaker), this sounds quite ominous to me.
I'm still open minded about Elon but I view him with suspicion. He does some things that seem great but then I hear about things like this X Corp and I am become very suspicous.
Not too sure. All other media is posted on Twitter, including news and entertainment, hardcopy and digitial. His reaction was impulsive and counter to all he's been advocating. It's not as if he doesn't have the right, he surely does, but he can't play both sides. His later response to Taibbi's post was inaccurate and spiteful.
I think substack will squeeze their tits together for a higher price as they probably want to eventually be bought out and go to another early deadly boring retirement. The grrrrr of fight is not in these tech guys. They're all bottoms.
Substack is in mouse as prey mode. This is the smell of tech love in san francisco spring air.
We're cheering on who's our free speech overlord. It's pathetic how small our dreams got.
OK but I have to say, I misjudged Elon. He rightly saw competition and I think has a right to self defense.

I think his reaction is due to one of his children being "trans"
