I read the Wall Street Journal recap of the protest a few minutes ago. It was disgusting, shocking misrepresentation of the truckers. But then again I expect nothing less from legacy media. Even so called conservative outlets are in lockstep on covid. There has never been a greater threat to the world than these mandates and policies.
I absolutely love the fact that of all the countries in the world, it is the Canadians that have stood up and said enough of this. Canadians showing the world... amazing.
Seems like Ottawa code enforcement clowns came out and said the truckers weren't allowed to build a permanent structure. So the truckers are going to put wheels on the soup kitchen.
The truckers don't honk after 6 pm. I mean, the politeness of that. "Sorry to bother you, but could you please give us our lives back." It's heartbreaking.
Perhaps I'm of the last generation raised on an appreciation for absurdity. The original Looney Tunes, the original MAD Magazine, books like "1066 and All That"--we learned irreverence if not at mothers' breasts, so to speak, in secret giggling societies, so to speak. Laughing mockery as an essential character trait. Now it's vicious contempt if you put the teeniest of toes out of line.
I was astounded to discover that the Babylon Bee was the only hilarious political-commentary satire site out there. Imagine. The only people with a genuine sense of humor are conservatives--and religious ones at that. The world is sundered from its moorings indeed...
What scares me is the sheer number of people who still DO believe Trudeau and the lying narrative. Hundreds of thousands? Millions? I suppose we can hope that the narrative is very slowly being chipped away, but the number of unhinged deniers out there still keeps me up at night.
This is what it looks like when it's too hard for them to subvert it by breaking a few windows and causing mayhem. They fear this because its organized. They hate that. They thrive when they cause chaos amongst the populace. They loved the BLM movement because they could control it somewhat. They thought a few broken windows was a small price to pay in order to keep the people separated from each other. They want all races to hate each other and not realize how much we have in common. We all just want to live our lives. All of us. Every creed and color just wants to be left alone. I have said since June of 2020 that they love this because the more we point fingers at each other...the less we point at the real problem...the people in power.
One of the things I've been wondering about for the last couple of years is the degree to which a self-credentialing "elite" is able to go on believing that "controlling the narrative" is a winning strategy when the narrative becomes obviously false -- e.g. Paul Krugman spending 2021 telling readers that inflation is modest and transitory. You know what you spent at the supermarket and the gas pump, so what good does it do?
So now comes the DANGEROUS TRUCKER EXTREMISTS!!!!!! narrative, while people dance in the street and bring food to each other. Do they think we don't have eyes? They have nothing left but "these are not the droids you are looking for," and it just gets dumber by the day.
